I'm not quite sure if this has been discussed already, but, if it so, then the moderators can feel free to do what they want with it.

In the light of such scriptures as Isaiah 65:17 that says
will we still know each other in heaven ? What are these former things ?

Take note also of this scripture in Revelation 21:1-4 :

Does this passage insinuate tears from a person's eyes in heaven ? If so, why should there be weeping ?

A friend and I were discussing this very topic last night!

Thank you for the Isaiah verse. It answers a lot of questions for me.

In my Defender's Study Bible, with notes by Dr. Henry Morris, he says this regarding Revelation 21:4

"Our tears of sorrow will in that day be turned into tears of joy and thanksgiving (Isaiah 25:8,9 Revelation 7:17)"

We tend to forget we will not be spending eternity in Heaven, but on a new Earth restored to its Edenic condition!

I go to where the pharisees tried to trick Jesus by asking him about a woman who married a man that died before fathering a child. So in jewish tradition she married his brother but he died before fathering a child. this happened through several brothers until finally the lady passed away as well. They asked Jesus this question: Whose husband will she be? Jesus answered that there will be no bonds of marriage or relationships in heaven but we will be as the angels. I like to think that the angels know one another so we shall know one another also but our relationship with that person will be changed. There will be more of a sense of family (sibiling love) rather than spousal love. We will all be one big happy family giving praise to Jesus Christ

As for the first question about the tears in heaven, I believe this is a reference that those who lived a sorrowful life on earth shall now be relieved of their sorrow with eternal heavenly joy. Christians can face depression and opression and their only hope at times is heaven. This is the fullness of what they hope for.

Though in my younger years I did preach that some Christians live in sin at the time of their death (believing then in eternal security) and when they stood before Christ in judgment they had to live their sin before Him. He had to comfort them and wipe away their tears

based on the story of Lazarus and the rich man, which is not a parable, Abraham knew who the rich man was, though he has not lived in the same period. if he knew a man he did not know before, maybe everyone in heaven would everyone else.

I think the simple fact of us standing in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and having him forgive us and cleanse us of our sinful nature would be enough to make me weep. I think the guilt will be overwhelming before the tranformation to everlasting life.

Kind of like a father wiping away the tears of his child and telling them everything is going to be alright.

    Matthew 8
11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

They are mentioned by name here.

Also, remember that Moses and Elijah were recognized on the Mount of Transfiguration.

And, as someone pointed out, Lazarus was recognized by the rich man.

Also, how is it we will be judged if we no longer retain our identities?

I can't wait to be reunited with my loved ones. What a day of rejoicing that will be! [IMG]

I watched a news documentary some time ago---but will never forget the topic

A Vietnamese family became seperated at the very end of the war there when American forces were evacuating the Embassy----seems that one of the mothers tossed her baby on board one of the "Slicks" on the roof---and the chopper took off. Father/Mother seperated from baby!

Twenty five years later---one of the news giants---I think ABC--caught wind of the seperation 25 years before and set out to link Father/Mother and baby back together----the baby was grown and living in the US---the Father/Mother were still in Vietnam.

The day came for the baby to fly to Vietnam for the reunion---cameras were there---then came the reuniting--------you just had to have seen it----weeping uncontrolable----The translators were working since the baby knew no Vietnamese language----here's how the translation sounded

    Our baby! OHHHHH, our baby!!!

    Mamma San! Mamma San!

    Weeping and laughter! Joy uncontroled!!

I called my wife in to watch that little reunion---and then made the comment

"That's what Heaven's gonna be like on a Grand Scale!!"

    I can hardly wait!
