William Cohen calls for gays in military.

On CNN, former defense secretary called for homos in the military. In direct opposition to God's commandment, he implied that this would be good for our soldiers.

Is the risk of one soldier being punished for being offended by the sin of homosexuality worth being politically correct?

Actually, gays are already in the military, and have been since Valley Forge. Lately, the military has been very reluctant to go gay-hunting, seeing as competent soldiers are increasingly hard to get.

I happen to agree with President Clinton's policy on gays in the military. Don't ask, don't tell.

What you do away from base and in your bedroom is not the military's concern, provided it ain't illegal or compromising national security.

However, it can be distracting if such were to come to light, so it should remain behind closed doors, where it belongs, if it belongs at all.

Frankly I might be a little miffed about having to shower and bed down next to some guy who finds tall fat guys attractive, so if I don't know it, better for me and him.

For what it's worth, I don't think women should serve in combat either.

    Now that was hilarious!

Wishing God's Best to you and yours, Bro. James,

P.S. I felt compelled to pray for you Saturday morning on my way to Jamestown Island - hope you weren't in pain.

Gays have always been in the military, and the military’s stance has not changed. It is a disqualification for military service. However, it is no longer a question that can be asked upon enlistment.

If a serviceman or woman is caught in a homosexual act, or admits to being a homosexual, that is grounds for separation.

That said, the military is a microcosm of society.

Maybe the military needs to have heterosexual units and homosexual units and never the twain shall meet. :)

    So?

If a soldier kills a homosexual that makes a pass him (her) what should his punishment be?

He should be prosecuted for murder, tried and punished accordingly. How is this even a question?

You force a law abiding Christian soldier into a threatening situation and then you EXPECT him to NOT DEFEND HIMSELF.

That is reason enough to NOT ALLOW HOMOSEXUALS IN THE MILITARY.

You want to try your fellow Christian for a crime that you would place him into, how can you even post such a ridiculous attitude? Maybe think such a thing . . . but why post that for all to see?

I didn't force anything, and he's not law abiding if he murders someone for offending his heterosexual tendencies. I don't think sodomites should be allowed in the military. However, never would I suggest that a man should kill another man for a non-violent offense and not be prosecuted for murder. Killing someone for making a pass at you is not defending yourself and it is disturbing to me if this is what you are suggesting.

Would it be the same if a gay man killed a female for making a pass at him, thus threatening his homosexuality?

Either way, that is not very good reasoning.

Perhaps the man being hit on should examine why the gay man thought he was a good target for potential advancement. Maybe if the straight guy would stop acting so darned effiminate...

Shoot, at this point, I would probably feel pretty good about myself if a 100 year old, 600 lb., blind, smelly lesbian hit on me. At least it's something.

Seriously though, if physical harm is not committed, then what right in the world would someone have to take the life of another?

Is the straight guy afraid he might like the advances and turn gay? Embarrassment is not good enough grounds to murder someone, anyone.

Maybe if they created a special force, perhaps known as the Gay Infidels Regiment of Light Infantry Enlisted Men, we could avoid the possibility of having gays and straights together.

Just watch those terrorists tremble as boatloads of of our G.I.R.L.I.E. Men offload on their shores wearing their hotpink uniforms and white tennis shoes with "man bags" to match, that color-scheme only before labor day, of course. My, wouldn't that be a frightful sight.:tongue3:

Glad I could bring a little joy to your day. Hope the cleanup didn't take too long.

I appreciate the prayers. I haven't been in any physical pain lately, but I did find out on Saturday that my aunt has cancer and my cousin had a heart attack. I've also been pretty down in the dumps lately since my money is running out and I haven't been able to find a job since I was laid off at the end of August. I had quite a bit saved up, but the pot is almost bone dry now.

I covet any and all prayers you may ask on my behalf. I am just kind of wondering what God has in mind for me, and hopefully I won't be too dense to notice when he puts something in front of me.

God bless you on your travels. Seems like you've been going quite a bit more than usual lately.

When I was in high school in the Philippines, I skipped classes to watch a movie.
This dignified looking guy in great clothes and professorial spectacles sat next to me and a few minutes later I felt his hands on my left thigh, and I knew immediately "what" he was.
I took his hand, squeezed it, rubbed the palms, and he was purring like a kitten.
Then I bit his fingers so hard I drew blood. He screamed. The lights came on. And the guys next, front, and back of us were literally teary eyed with laughter as he stood up wrapping his hand in his handkerchief and cussin' at me.
Don't like their lifestyle, never did.
I left them alone, though, until they put their hands where they shouldn't.
    If they do, it's war.
But I do have friends who are gay.
Oh, yeah, scratch the word "gay".
I call them homosexuals, at best, sodomites, at worst.

Here's what your post sounds like to me:
I know you won't get this, because you and many of the others in this thread are so threatened by gays, and so bigoted in your fear, that you can't understand what I'm saying. So be it.

Galatian is correct. I served under Carter, at first, and there was no shortage of gays, open gays, who served honorably, unlike some of the folks bashing them.

I am opposed to homosexuality simply because I believe it is wrong. It’s not being threatened or bigoted.

Gays in the military is not a big issue with me because the military is not a Christian organization advocating homosexuality.

I am opposed to having hair simply because I believe it is wrong. It’s not being threatened or bigoted.

People with full heads of hair in the military is not a big issue with me because the military is not a Bald organization advocating hirsutism.

I agree. I can get along with the big hair people, just don't be spraying that stuff around me.

I need to hurry up and retire before they push for their own dorms, base housing, etc...

Not to mention the fact that I refuse to have my retirement certificate signed by another Clinton or someone even worse!

"26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;" - Romans 1:26-28

The folks who are advocating for sodomites in the military, do you concur that one who is engaged in this life choice has been given up to a reprobate mind as described above? If yes, why would it be a good thing to give a gun or greater to someone with a reprobate mind?
