Could be another YUGE victory for Trump. Looks like he's cut a deal.

Not much news on this yet, but this says a lot.

Freedom Caucus chair 'optimistic' about ObamaCare repeal deal

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) said Wednesday night he is "optimistic" about a deal and "encouraged" by talks between the GOP and the White House about passing leadership's plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare in a Thursday House vote.

The Freedom Caucus chairman said a deal is not yet in hand, but that talks with the White House and leadership center on adding repeal of ObamaCare's essential health benefits and other regulations to the repeal bill.

Meadows said President Trump has been the crucial factor and even called him during a Freedom Caucus meeting Monday night.

Dobbs also reporting the immigration issue in the bill was fixed. Everything sounding very positive at this point.

Sounds like the Freedom Caucus is holding Trump's feet to the fire and going to get concessions. Good. The bill as currently written is not a good bill.

whatever helps you sleep at night.

"Meadows said President Trump has been the crucial factor and even called him during a Freedom Caucus meeting Monday night."

"Meadows is working with the President and his team around the clock to make changes to the bill. We're hopeful we can get something done," the congressman's spokesman told CNN, marking a stark departure from previous days when a stream of meetings and even direct talks with the president had led to no progress.

One aide said the new sense of cautious optimism had not existed among Freedom Caucus members even an hour prior, and that the group's members planned to work late into the night.

This is the way it's supposed to work.

Not everyone can get everything they want. Not in the real world.

But the republican party, unlike democrats, is diverse enough to come up with a good bill.

    We'll see.

Meadows is definitely giving Trump credit:

“There is no denying why he has made so many deals,” Meadows said of Trump. “I thought I was a good dealmaker; I'm nothing compared to the president.”

Number of House GOP "no" votes on the AHCA needed to kill the bill: 22.

Number of House GOP "no" votes on the AHCA before Trump got involved in trying to persuade members to vote yes: about 25.

Number of House GOP "no" votes on the AHCA after Trump got involved in trying to persuade members to vote yes: about 36.

Looks like Mr. Dealmaker, Captain Closer, is making things worse.

Evidently they're not getting the changes they want the most.

They just need to go ahead and have the vote.

That would force backstabber Ryan back to the drawing board.

Liberals can perhaps be gleeful for another day. At least they have something after Hillary failed. Though the round is not over yet.

Sean Spicer at press conference today...

Reporter: "So if the bill doesn't pass tonight, is there a Plan B?"
Spicer: "The bill will pass. There is no Plan B. Only Plan A."

Reporter: "If the bill fails, will President Trump take responsibility?"
Spicer: "At the end of the day we can't force somebody to vote"

    No vote tonight.

Minutes after this was announced clueless Trump says of the bill, "we'll find out in about three hours" while at a trucker event.

    So much winning!

You are going to be so sad when they pull this off. According to most, Trump is the only thing holding this together, and talks are going in a positive direction. Your dream of socialized medicine is going to crumble.

And I still don't have a source on your numbers above. Did you make them up?

I think Trump said it best in a tweet.

    Donald J. Trump‏Verified account @realDonaldTrump
Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!

Many here are smiling also. I don't blame Trump for slowing things down, I blame these guys.

That said, we're only barely into this rodeo. Takes time. 2-3 years, then we'll be concerned but things are already happening at a fast pace. Once Gorsuch gets confirmed, it'll be even better.

    And?

No dice the first time he tried, but it isn't over. Ryan is a huge obstacle and cannot be trusted.

I still think the best option is to just let it self destruct and blame democrats all the way. It's their law and they refuse to take part in replacing it with something that works. They won't even talk about it.

And there's murmur that some progress has been made, recently, to actually revive the bill. But Trump can't vote for a bill, he can only sign one. If the republicans want to keep failing they do so at their own peril. Trump, in the meantime, is moving on.

If you want to cause the death of millions of people who rely on the ACA for their desp0erately needed healthcare go ahead. An added bonus is a substantial tax cut for wealthy Americans. But please don't present this as a "Christian" position. It's not.
