If I truly abstained from ALL appearance of evil, I'd have to lock myself in a closet and never come out. Of course, some folks believe evils spirits live in closets, so I guess I'm not even safe there...

I think the context of the verse is to take REASONABLE efforts to abstain from that which COMMON SENSE tells you gives the appearance of evil. The problem with the Christian is often not the presence of evil, but the absence of common sense.

Donna you must not have read the link! </font>[/QUOTE]I'm asking for your personal beleif here, not someone elses on some web site. Our opinions need to come from God not men. If all I do is read someones writting and agree with thema nd form my 'opinion' from them alone and not scripture then I am folowing man and not God.
So I asked you about you, not them.

I asked in my previous post if you had read the bible verses I posted where earrings were not condemned in scripture. Based on scripture I'd have to say their opinion is not based on scripture, but rather on their desire to slam women. Abstaining from the appearance of evil means I do not routinely read these types of sites where scripture is ignored in favor of man's opinion.

Prehaps Abraham wasn't aware that by sening jewlery he was giving demons access to Iaacs wife.
Why does scripture have these verses and no rebuke for wearing that same jewlery? No where in scripture does it say you are giving demons access to enter you if you wear earrings. No where does it sat not to wear jewlery and makeup. This has been added by those who wrote those articles, and endoresed by thise who visit those sites. They endorse taking scripture out of ccontext, and adding man's words to it.
It's really a shame that christians involve themselves in this kind of unbiblical junk. But then look at how many christians follow Hinn and Meyers,a d TBN.

Good questions, Donna. Scripture verses, not websites.

I had no inclination that some folks believed demons enter our body through holes.

    Better plug my nose!

BTW, I grew up in the north in the 50's. IF a woman had pierced ears, it was indicative that she was "loose, a hooker or Black". No racism in Minneapolis!!

Earrings were fine, but had to be "clip on". My wife still has only clip on. But my daughter and I did a study on "evil" pierced ears!!

Could not find a thing in the Bible against it, so at 16 allowed my daughter to get her ears pierced.

She MAY be demon possessed . .

Beng a father of a 16yo girl myself, I would say that being 16 and demon possessed is compulsory.

    I sympathize [IMG]

Dr. Bob, my great grandmother had her ears pierced in the early 1900's. As a christian. She didn't seem demon possesed.

Isn't that where the custom of saying, "Bless you!" when somebody sneezes came from? The "blessing" was supposed to ward off the demon hovering around waiting for an opening, literally.

My grandmother Weldy had her ears pierced as a tiny child. She died two years ago at 92 and was a wonderful Christian lady. My grandmother Ward work big, gaudy clip ons. I mean BIG! I didn't like the look of the gawdy earrings so I had my ears pierced when I was 15 by a girlfriend and have never regretted it. My little earrings look feminine and fit my sized face much better.

We have too many looking for the devil on every door knob. That drives people away from Christianity.

I'm didn't know this. I am really learning things on this thread.

I have never wanted to know about demons! I have trusted Jesus to keep them away.

My grandmother had her ears pierced, but my mother didn't. My mother was against it.

I didn't have mine pierced until I wanted diamond earrings and was afraid I would lose the clip ons. Those clip on earrings hurt, too.
