So Powell wants our choice to be between: 1) a liberal democrat; or 2) a liberal republican. Conservatives can take a hike. Is that Powell wants - a monolithic party that is almost indistinguishable from the other party?

I may be wrong, but I believe Powell wants a Republican party that has a chance of becoming the party in the majority again.

What good is being in the majority when you are indistinguishable from the current majority?

What good is it to be in a shrinking minority?

Wimpy repubs just don't win. Strong ones, who speak their mind, and promote conservative ideals do well.

Remember when Powell wouldn't even admit what party he was in ? He didn't seem to care then. Conservatives, like Rush Limbaugh, were always right about him.

You're right about that. The fact is that conservatives have never been in the minority in America. The reason McCain lost is that he alienated the conservative base.

I'd rather be in a shrinking minority staying true to my convictions that to compromise.

Some of the elitist Republicans also want conservative Christians to take a hike.

I can remember when the moderates ran the Republican Party. We were a distinct minority in both the House and Senate. It was only after Reagan was elected that Republicans made gains in Congress which they eventually threw away by spending like drunken democrats.

I have said elsewhere that the last 3 Republican presidents made Colin Powell. Republicans have appointed members of minorities to high positions in government than have democrats but to listen to the leftist media and democrats all Republicans are racist.

If we will get back to conservative principles of Federalism, smaller Federal government, lower taxes, etc. we can take back the Federal government from the Marxist-democrats.

    Yes, you are.

Powell wants Republicans that act like democrats.

He wants a Republican Party that has no place for conservatives.

Singling out Limbaugh is a liberal's tactic to divide the party. Anyone that knows anything about Rush at all knows he is a Conservative. First , last, and always. He is frequently critical of Republicans and their party.

Much more from the following site

    http://www.geocities.com/kanaell/opinions/campaignplan.html

It may be too late now, BUT had we had a truly conservative candidate last election, this would once again be a free and powerful nation as opposed to wimpy -- IMNSHO of course!!!

That's right we must demand a return to conservative principles and policies. We can not accept these RINOs, who offer lip service to conservative principles, but do nothing to advance conservative policies in Congress or the White House. We do not need to compromise with the Liberal/Socialist Democrats by accepting some of their principles and policies. We need to defeat them and force them to compromise by accepting conservative principles and policies. If the GOP can not or will not come along with us then we must bring about a new conservative movement. However, it would be much better to work within the establish "conservative" party and turn it back to its roots rather than try to build the whole thing over again.
