Gonna be embarrasing if Team USA don't win.

Although we no longer dominate basketball.

We've already been embarassed. It was CUBA that won the gold medal for Baseball the last time it was played in the summer Olympics. This is a chance to prove ourselves. Mr. Castro has already said that maybe we are "chicken" to play Cuba.

Just wish more major leaguers were taking part.

I'm very upset about the WBC. But that's because by the time I tried to buy tickets for a game at Angel Staduim, they were all sold out. I guess I'll have to settle for the tv broadcast [IMG]

I will have to wait and see. I am thinking the games will not be played hard because of the season around the corner. Plus a lot of the best players are bowing out. so ""up"yeah that"

Saw the US beat Mexico but lost to Canada. Whats gonna happen if they have to play the big guns like Japan, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Korea?

I don't think that the Americans want to talk about losing to the Canadians at their own game. [IMG]

It will be interesting to see if the USA are truly world champions at this American sport.

Could the "World Series" winners really claim to be "World Champions" of baseball then instead of the proper title "US Baseball Club Champions"?

Ah well, perhaps the US will pull off a few upsets and be true World Champions ;) .

1 PM EST today - Let's see if USA can beat South Africa. If we don't, I think we are out of the competition, since Mexico and Canada both have two wins to our one.

Whatever the official time was, it is over.
The U.S. hammered South Africa 17-0.
That put it at a three way tie. With such a high score, the score differential determines who advances or in this case who is the one to lose. Canada drops out of the race.
Personally I think it is unfair because the Canadians beat the U.S., but I don't make the rules. Canada lost to Mexico 9-1, which was their demise.

    DHK,

How popular is baseball in Canada? I keep hearing conflicting reports about baseball's popularity in Canada.

It would be a lot more popular if they could figure out how to run the bases in ice skates [IMG]

What do you think of the call against Japan yesterday? Should USA have lost?
