    Question for our English members.

How badly did England beat Northern Ireland in the qualifying round tonight ;) ?

Sorry, it was Belfast 1-London 0, nil, zero, zilch, goose egg. Where's Uncle Ian when you need him?

Pity Sven didn't spend as much time on team strategy in the last few weeks as he did on his...ahem...extra-curricular activities. Expect his days to be numbered...

[ETA - oh well, let's hope our cricketers redeem us over the next few days...]

Let's not talk about football, but go quickly over to the cricket, where I've started a thread...Cricket is the game to watch gentlemen, not football; move along, nothing to see here...

I said "Are England Scotland in disguise?" [IMG]

What a game!!. The men in green played their hearts out, whilst the English played Sven's silly tactical game, which thankfully eliminated their key men from playing. Beckham had a platform to show off his passing skills, but Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney might as well have sat with the specators.

Welll done Northern Ireland - you did our Province proud!!. Bring on Wales!!

You mean I wasn't sufficiently Scots-Irish for you? Ah, well, back to the tin mine, Cousin Jack.

A good job to Northern Ireland, in downing those Brits!

USA was the first CONCACAF team to qualify, beating there arch rival Mexico.

But alas, this next world Cup belongs to Argentina.

    VIVA ARGENTINA!

USA could make the quarter finals again. These guys look serious [IMG] .

Ireland? Well, they will struggle to qualify now.

Northern Irish are Brits and most of us are proud of it. Last year in the European Championship I cheered for England all the way, and if they qualify for the World Cup will do so again.

My apologies. I do realize that the Northern Irish are Brits, but from a Yankee prespective you are different.

Because I am a fan of Argentina(being a missionary there, though currently not in the country) I appreciate anytime England (and Brazil) are defeated. England has left, err how does one put it, a "sore spot" in the minds of many Argentines.

This match was one of my favourites. I almost always pull for the underdog (unless Chelsea are playing [IMG] ) and this was a classic David and Goliath match. Last time it happened I think was 1927 - before my mother was born!
