A-Rod aside, the BoSox still have better pitching than the Evil Empire. I still think the Yankees are vulnerable. Don't forget, Boston has essentially the same staff that got them within five outs of the World Series, and added to that Foulke and Schilling.

Of course, it's only February-- still plenty of time to get pessimistic as the season goes on...

WallyGator, I too am a life-long Cubs fan. As much as the 8th inning blowup broke our hearts last year, I believe that the Cubs have built a team that can be consistently good for several years.

This off-season, the Cubs have only strengthened their pitching staff with the additions of Greg Maddux, LaTroy Hawkins, and Kent Mercker. I believe this gives us the best starting rotation in baseball. Also, if Borowski, Remlinger, Farnsworth and Hawkins can get the job done, we can also have a pretty consistent bullpen.

While I wish Kenny Lofton would have stayed, the additions of Derek Lee, Todd Hollandsworth, and Todd Walker are all good additions to a well-rounded club. It appears to be a two-man hunt in the NL Central between Houston and the Cubs, so it should be a pretty exciting year!

Yankees won't be winning the AL this year. Statistically, it's unlikely (since they won the AL last year).

As for the NL, I keep thinking the D Backs might do well. They might not win the NL pennant, but in the least, they might win their division.
