Yes and now we're the one's putting missiles in Russia's neighbor's yard and pointing them at Moscow.

Others here have already pointed out how "we" wouldn't stand for this kind of behavior from the Soviets in the 1960's and yet these same people seem to expect the Russians to just roll over and play nice while "we" do it to them.

If Russia was busy surrounding us with missile bases in our neighbor's yards we'd expect our "leaders" to raise a royal ruckus and rightly so. But the shoe is on the other foot isn't it? We're the ones busy surrounding Russia with missile bases in it's neighbor's yards, so naturally we expect the Russian leaders' to be silent and play nice while we're going about it. And if they don't? Well, we'll just accuse them of trying to start WWIII.

So anyway the take off here is Russian leaders are BAD EVIL MADMEN for doing exactly what we would expect our own leaders to do if the roles were reversed. Namely vigorously reminding them that we are a nuclear power so they best not mess with us.

No its not hypocritical neither is it a double standard.

I was in a data processing intelligence company stationed in the now defunct BMEWS (Ballistic Missile Early Warning System) and unless you were in a military intelligence unit you have no idea what evil the Kremlin is capable of (as well as ourselves I will admit).

It's dog eat dog. we have had to convince them (Russians) since WWII with empirical evidence (like disintegrating Islands with our H-Bombs) that we are more capable of annihilating them than they are of us - and stopping their nukes better than they can stop or knock down ours.

This is why JFK made them and actually all nations tremble. They knew he was ready to be the grim reaper of mother Russia. They still know it and they will shut up only when we get a hawk for a president.

poncho I agree with a lot of what you say but not this time. We have our faults but the Reds (Communist Government) are on the moral equivalent of ISIS only worse. They have Hydrogen Bombs. On the other hand they are not quite sure what we have.

I know where of I speak. It not a matter of being hypocritical but having a strong will to fight and survive a sure nuclear holocaust which IMO is inevitable.

The Russian people themselves are the salt of the earth and are easy for the Kremlin to lead off to war to "protect the motherland".

They have a patriotism that (generally speaking) is at least on par with our own - maybe exceeds.

War is hell, but it is also the only language nations run by the children of Adam understand and it's how we communicate.

Putin is very dangerous. He is worth $70 billion personally--perhaps the richest man in the world. All that from the murderous KGB. He recently bailed the Castros in order to reopen the Russian base in Cuba. He outsmarted Bush and with Obama it has been no contest. He is building up his military and he knows how to command an army.
