I am an Anglican by church membership, but I remain a Baptist in theology and fundamental beliefs. I am a twice-born believer in reality.

As Robert says, It is not an either or. The church connection has absolutely nothing to do with it.

    Cheers,

    Jim, a twice-born believer since 1939

Some are Baptist and a member of a Baptist Church but are not born again. Some are born again and not a member of a Baptist Church.

then why do 99.99% of you rush to the dunk tank as soon as (and in many cases well before) you are saved?
In the wonderful Francine Rivers "Mark of the Lion" books, the author is desperate to "baptise" anyone before they die, and that distortion of scripture detracts from her story, but admittedly not too much.
</font>[/QUOTE]Hillclimber, are you really sure you know any real life Baptists????

Would you be a Baptist or a member of the Body of Christ? Why don't you check out the Bible, preferably Ephesians, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit? [Of course, the Holy Spirit indwells only those who are born again!]

Your creeds may be very good, but don't make them straitjackets. We have to be rich in the word of God, Col 3.16, and not in history, theology or tradition.

theology is the garden of bible study. You can't separate the study of theology from bible study. The bible is in itself like the wild fields, as opposed to the theological garden.

    Cheers,

Neither history, nor theology, nor tradition, can save us. But the word of God can! That's my point. Intellectual discussion will never bring about spiritual revelation.

Its the other way round! The Bible is a garden, but the field of theology is full of weeds and poisonous plants [wild gourds on 2 Kings 4.39]
