Absolutely... It has provided the opportunity to debate others that are not in my circle.

I have learned a lot from others.. even when i don't agree with them and never will, I still get a glimpse of how their mind works, and i realize that God loves diversity..

I came here looking for answers on KJVO... I got what I was looking for.. and in the meantime, met some wonderful friends!

It has provided another way to fellowship with Christians... i sorta view it like another Sunday School class, or small group study to which I belong.

The best place on the web!

Hey I never thought of that... about the typing.

You surely didn't mean all the non-IFBs are wrong....!!!

What about a "used to be IFB?"

Great what does a "used IFB" go for these days? ;) How many miles does it have? Is there a guarantee that comes with it? [IMG]

Although I've just registered recently, I've been reading BB for about 1-2 years, and I've gained an immeasurable amount of knowledge from all the discussions and debates. As no two posters ever seem to agree on anything (except maybe the depravity of everyone else :D ), it has encouraged me to read my bible and discover God's word for myself.

I've learned that I've lived a fairly sheltered life. I've belonged to churches where most of the members pretty much believe alike, with some differences in eschatology, and of course, differences in views of the doctrines of grace.

Boy have my eyes been opened! I've met Baptists who don't hold to eternal security; Baptists who think sprinkling is okay; Baptists who hold that only Paul's writings are for the church, not the gospels; Anglicans who are evangelical and almost Reformed; Baptists who are mean-spirited; People pretending to be Baptist who are heathens.

And while the debates get pretty intense on this board, there is predominately a collegiality and convivality that prevails. I drop in occasionally on a couple of other forums (or fora)(forae?). If you think it gets ugly on occasion here, you'll be shocked at how so-called Christians treat each other on those boards. Ninety per cent of the posts are personal attacks, not debate on issues. It makes me appreciate the spirit here, which serves as a good example how believers can disagree in a spirit of love and seeking truth.

I've made some friends in far away places. And I get to debate with some very intelligent folks.

    Proverbs 27:17
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

I agree. As large as this board is, the demeanor here is remarkably calm compared to many other Christian boards, in light of the many controversial issues discussed herein. I think it is credit to the moderators, and of course to the participants, as well.

I have been educated and blessed in many ways.Right off the bat I have learned there is great diversity in Baptist theology and thinking.
I know many times I have started in some conversations and my interest has been piqued to the point of my reading a book or two on the topic of discussion.

I have also meet several people who I feel very drawn to and who I admire very much.I have also meet people who are total theological opposites of me who I have come to like very much because I know though we are very different our Love of the Savior is equally genuine.Another thing I have found is people who may have different ideas on one subject have identical ideas on other subjects.

Lastly because of this board I have one of the best "favorites" lists on the internet for Bible study.

I love this board. It is a great encouragement to me. I like being able to share burdens with people outside of my church who I know will pray for me. It is like being able to share an unspoken prayer request and still having it private.

With my world so small, prayer is one of my biggest ministries and I appreciate having so many new people to pray for. Instead of going to sleep counting sheep, I go to sleep praying for many of you that I have met here. True, I don't know a lot of your specific needs, but the Lord does.

By the way, Plain Old Bill, I really like your board name.

I think I have been here about 4 years, I will have to read my post and see what my little profile thingy says, lol. When I graduated from seminary, I had a baby two weeks later and began my career as a Mama. I was used to having good sound discussions on a daily basis, then went straight to baby stuff. This board was a God-send for me, becuase this is where I came to be able to do adult stuff. Then came baby #2 and I still needed it as an outlet. I have grown to have an affection for many of the people here, and I consider many of you as friends. Even when we dont agree, its fun, and I think its a great exercise in sharpening one another and loving the Lord with our minds.

    I'm a long-time reader -- to date, I rarely post.

The site has allowed me to learn new things, relearn some old things, and given me immeasurably more empathy for others' points of view.

I have painfully learned I don't know all that I knew I know.

Sure! It's taught me how right the Word of God really is and how limited so many are in their walk with God due to their wilingness to accept worldliness in the place of godliness.

"Just a closer walk with Thee"............ I wonder, didn't I hear that song somewhere before?

I really enjoy the give-and-take on the Baptist Board. I enjoy asking questions and seeing others' opinions. I am already aware of what little I know, I know. But in order to enlarge or grow my knowledge I need to learn what others believe on different subjects. Also I have found that the private message feature of this board is very very interesting. I receive many private messages, in which people may say things that they would not put on this board for all the see.

Yes all my private messages, with the exception of one, have been positive. I am somewhat surprised by people who send me private messages stating their agreement with me when viewing their posted messages when would never come to this conclusion. So I am just surreal with private messages.

It has taught me to keep my cool and think about things more. I find myself not being so concerned with disagreement but rather those things which matter most.
