Here's how I do it!

Get in the study---study---write--write--study--study---study---study---write some more---when I'm finished studying and writing----on Sunday morning I light the fuse!! Hoover Dam was built primarily by dynamite, bulldozers and giant excavators---not teaspoons and sewing thembels!!

Preacher spends 40 hours a week in the study----God will show up and have something to say on Sunday!!

    Blackbird

PS---that dynamite??? The Engineers had to set it all off in "orderly" fashion----if they just "threw it in the hole"---they'd still be "throwin' it in the hole" today----and Hoover Dam still would not be Hoover Dam-----Study in the Study Room God's Blueprints for Living(the Bible)----learn precisely where to place the dynamite---drill you a hole there----place dynamite in hole---set your blastin' cap----and when the smoke and dust settle you'll have something!!!

    Get it!!????

God can, and has, used a jackass to deliver His message, but quite frankly, who wants to be identified as a jackass?

I always remember the story about the preacher who aarived at church and realized he had forgotten his sermon notes. He remarked: "I have forgotten my sermon notes this morning. I shall have to depend on the Lord, but I will be better prepared tonight."

I have heard some of those preachers "who will have to depend on the Lord." and quite frankly, I would rather have heard the jackass, who indeed was sent from God.

"Argument is weak, pound pulpit and shout!" has often proven itself in many a pulpit.

    Cheers,

    Jim

...but sometimes the argument against impassioned speach comes from the mouth of a preacher that delivers more like a professor than a prophet.

I believe a preacher should find some room in the middle. As I said before, there's no excuse in the world for a preacher to deliver the message in a boring manner. God's Word is not boring, and if the man is truly called, God has equipped him to deliver His message.

When I heard John Stott preach a few times I was surprised. He delivered the message in a manner that most would call unexciting. But you could have heard a pin drop when he spoke. He had something to say.

Nobody's time should be wasted by a lazy preacher. We should never draw atention to ourselves but to Christ.

Eccl. 12:9-11, "In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out and arranged many proverbs. The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly. The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of these collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd.

I had a person do that in a Church I was pastoring years ago. I stopped told him, "if you get up and leave, don't bother coming back, because I don't need your kind in my Church." needless to say, he sat down and never got up and walked out on my sermons again. Neither did anyone else. Walking out on a Pastor while he's preaching is just downright disrespectful.

That's pentecostal tradition, nothing more, nothing less... and It's not even remotely Scriptural. Pentecostalism is a Satanic movement, Especially the nonsense on that Satanic Network called TBN.

Again, more Satanic Influence from the Pentecostal Movement. Jesus never did scream or even yell. Niether did the Apostles.

    1. Call it YOUR church
It was as much his as yours

    2. Determine what "his" kind is, let alone determine he wasn't "needed" in the church.

    3. Act like a total control freak

    4. Tell a Christian not to come back into the church

    </font>
1. He wasn't member of my Church, but rather a trouble-maker, who I'd had run in's with before.

    2. I was the God Ordained Minster and Leader of that Church, thereby I have the right to tell someone, whom I felt wasn't there to be ministered to, but rather to cause divison amongst the brethern. and according to the Word Of God, in the epistle written by Paul, we as pastor's have a right to eject ANYONE, whom we feel are in a Church to cause trouble. Do you want me to give me Scripture references too?

    3. I wasn't being a control freak, But as the God-Ordained Leader of a Church, I did and still do, require, No, I DEMAND respect from my members and visitors, and this includes not moving around or talking and doing anything else that would distract from the ministry of the Word of God.

    4. Yes, it was MY Church, it was a 501D tax exempt Church, not a 501c3 Coperate Church. I founded it, paid for most of the building. and kept it running for 15 years, before turning it over to another Pastor, who's still running it, My board was NOT elected, they were APPOINTED, like in Acts Chapter 6! and I was the Spiritual HEAD of that Church, and that my dear lady, made it MY Church, and it was God's house. I agree, But I was the Spiritual head of that Church, and when I saw Mr. Troublemaker was acting up again. I told him Don't come back, just like Paul said we could do.

Another interested thing... I was running a service once and had some Pentecostal, Charismanic nutjob stand up and say, "I got a Word from the Lord for you!" and I stopped, look at him and said, "Is EVERY Word you have found in the 66 Books of the Bible?" and he looked rather disappointed and looked at the ground and said a quiet "no.." and I said "that's what I thought, no sit down and don't interupt my service again!"

It's time we got back to the Bible folks and quit with the nonsense!

You forgot what a church is: A church is Christ’s not yours. I can assure you that if the people want to do their own thing, nothing you do will control them.

Love does not seek its own.

Leaders cannot demand respect from anyone. It is only given. You might be able to get them to do what you want in outward actions. But respect is not one of them. Respect comes from the heart. It is much more than not doing a number of things. I have been in services that were three hours long and people did get up quietly to use the restroom etc. Some elderly people must sit near the bathroom due to certain ailments they have.

The person I was referring to was a known trouble-maker.

I would never prevent anyone from using the restroom. Especially the elderly.

If he was a known troublemaker then why let him in the door at all? Jude says that we are not to even give them a greeting. Yes church discipline is at an all time low. What do you expect when people are not secure in Jesus and put their faith in themselves? You get whimps that seek a mild Jesus that demands nothing except easy livin'.

    </font>
Well Sir, it's like this here. I didn't know what kind of a person he was, until he was there a while. and I began to hear things, that he was telling other people. and I confronted him. and he at first, agreed to not cause anymore trouble. and then, it started, Him talking while I was trying to preach, going behind my back, and telling others he didn't agree with what I was teaching, and so on an so forth. FINALLY, after giving this guy enough "grace", I finally told him, look, either you cut the crap, or get out, I've had it up to *here*. his little act of getting up and walking out was the final act of defience towards me. this is when I told him not to come back. He didn't leave, sat on the back pew. I called him into my office. told him I didn't want to see him around again, and if he came back, I'd have the Police escort him out. I had 2 of my biggest ushers escort him to his car and follow him to the freeway. He never did return, But I did hear from some Pastor friends of mine. He did start some nonsense at some other Churches in the area. I did warn them, But I guess they wanted to see for themselves. and they did! :D

I'm all for Love and understanding and believe me guy, this guy was given alot more "grace" and understanding than most would give.

We've got one of those here in town. Preacher owns the 'church' and the land, the building, appoints his 'leaders' and runs the church the way he sees fit or the people are asked to leave. Even his own relatives have left and attendance is WAY down. No growth and no baptisms either.

The Church is the body of believers, not something YOU can claim ownership of.... the Bride of Christ!

I had expected, that since the topic and discussion centered around violent and/or false preaching, and joseph's stating he would get up and leave in such a situation, that this is what you were referring to in your situation.

Another question. Why, after the man did as you said, (sat down and was quiet) did you have him escorted out by your two biggest ushers and told not to return?

Another question. Do you happen to be in an IFB, KJVO church that believes people like him will most likely suffer some type of physical harm for his seeming disrespect for those in authority over him at the church, and believe that there are far too many attempts by churches nowadays to work together and understand each other, not enough separation?
