Phonaesthetics, the study of beauty and pleasantness associated with the sounds of certain words or parts of words.

J.R.R. Tolkien suggested the phrase, “cellar door” as a most pleasing word combination.

I like “autumnal”, relating to the colors and season of autumn.

Oh my goodness! There is a word for trying to find great sounding words!!!!

Suddenly, I just remembered a scene from the Lion King where the hyenas were saying, “Mufasa” ooo even the name is scary, say it again...”

J.R.R Tolkien was a brilliant man.

    peace to you

If our favorite words show disdain for others, what does that say about us? Twaddle, unmitigated gall, unabashed temerity, disingenuous...

Gadzooks, I did not see that coming... :)

Self-deprecation (boy I hope I spelled that right) is a lost art and we Baptist’s like to keep each other humble.

I am also impressed with folks who can instantly find the right words in nearly any situation.

I read in a Spurgeon biography that late in life he fell down some steps, head over heels, losing several teeth in the process. After he was helped to his feet he noted that several coins had slipped from his pocket and landed in his boot during the fall.

He quipped, “painless dentistry and change to boot!”

    peace to you
