Uh, that was 8 years ago. Are you a little behind the curve?

I'm not sure I can call somebody unpatriotic for being against the war. I was for the war at the time but came to be strongly against it, myself, and I believe I'm very patriotic.

The war was a phenomenally bad idea, with no exit strategy, no defined goals, and no clearly explained idea what we were endeavoring to do.

Do I blame Bush? No. He had to do something. I just wish that he had learned from mistakes made in Vietnam and defined what the purpose of the war was, what our goals were, what constituted victory and let the generals on the ground fight the war, rather than letting politicians in Washington fight it. And I certainly would not blame him and hold those on the other side who encouraged him blameless.

Does that make me unpatriotic? Maybe. But if not wanting my country to get drawn into a disasterous war that has lasted for nigh on nine years and shows no sign of ending, not wanting to see good men die for what was essentially a knee-jerk, Hail Mary pass, not wanting to give our real enemies a nine year head start and infinite fodder to use against us, then I guess I'm unpatriotic.

I love my country. I just regret a lot of the things my government has done.
