Why would you say that? Did He die and leave you in charge?

I think he means that most of these new translations aren't done because people felt they were called of God to do them.

As to the real answer, I'd like to know myself. In the last 20 or so years there have been more newer English translations of the Bible than at any other time in history. Why is this?

Also, thank you to the OP for posting this new translation. I've ordered a copy of the New Testament from Amazon. Looking forward to checking it out although I'm still only settling into the ESV after being a NASB addict for the last 15 years.

Since you replied with a sarcastic reply. I will also.

Yes. Now hush up and read the KJV!

What comes to mind is Danker's book on Bible Study Tools. Rather revealing how he recognizes the publishers "touting" their wares and such things as concordances being "exhaustive" or "complete" as so advertised when they are not.

And why would Danker have to suggest "buyer beware" concerning some things?

The explosision of English translations...hmmmm...call me a cynic, or realist, or the guy in charge now...but methinks some publishers were sitting around watching Zondervan and Baker make all the moola...and thought...
