Biblical truth is never nonsense. Your opinion is.

LOL....the brother gots some competition! But seriously, take a look at the heat this one thread has created. Funny actually! Mention Calvinism & the gauntlet is thrown down & the blood fly's.

I say, Bring Back the Roman Catholics....then we can all beat on those poor buggers & choose up sides how far we want to disparage them. My Brother in Christ, Thinking Stuff would certainly be up to the task.:laugh:

I will stick to my response s to you in post 97,99, 101, which you really do not care to respond to.

    I will also stick to my use of the word pathetic, when a professed Christian speaks of God as not knowing what will happen, until he learns about it, then reacting to what takes place....that is pathetic and should not even be posted;
    pa·thet·ic
    adjective \pə-ˈthe-tik\
    Definition of PATHETIC
    1
: having a capacity to move one to either compassionate or contemptuous pity
    2
: marked by sorrow or melancholy : sad3
    : pitifully inferior or inadequate <the restaurant's pathetic service>
    4
    : absurd, laughable <a pathetic costume>
    — pa·thet·i·cal adjective

Try reading Romans 1 and 2. Do you even understand Calvinism?

On second thought, never mind, I am going to stop responding to habitual name callers.

Iconoclast, I am not going to go around and around with you on this subject on this thread. I agree with others that this thread is getting out of hand, and its probably going to be closed. I will however respond to one of your questions...

Because God posesses knowlege that is infinitely beyond our comprehension, He descerns the heart of every human being, He posesses love that we can never fathom, and in His scriptures He declares that He gives*Light* to every man that comes into the world. Not all will be saved, but all will have oportunity.

    Hope that helps. God bless.

And, unfortunately, you got a bunch of varying answers, name callings, insults, slanders, etc. It goes with the "neighborhood" known as Calvinism vs. Arminianism(sp?).

This is, hands down, the best post in this thread.

Very thought provoking....I especially like how you used the Greek to exspress your opinion. You need to write a novel if you keep this up...

    kudos....encore.....encore......encore........

Where did you learn to write with such fluidity?

Convicted, like Arbo, I always respect your civil posts. This is also true of Alive in Christ and Gregory. I know you and I are on the opposite side of this question, but differrences of opinion is not what pushes my button, but demeaning names and arrogant attitudes. With me, as in this case, it usualy starts a back and forth with someone on the same side as I theologically. Sometimes I wish some of these posters were on the free will side.

Anyway, to explain your case, all I can figure is the pouring out of the Holy Ghost at Pentecost stopped at the Kentucky-West Virginia border, going west to east of course. Don't laugh too hard, it picked by up again in Virginia and traveled east until it got back to Jerusalem.

    SaturnNeptune...

1st of all thank you for the kind words. I have *moments* from time to time, but its not the norm. Your posts as well seem to always have a cordial, non combative tone.

    You said...

I totally agree. So many times in these threads we dont come across as brothers and sisters, but rather mortal enimies. That ought not be. And yes, we do agree on sooo much.

About the only GOOD thing I can find to say regarding the nastiness is at least we care!

Nobody could say we are apathetic!

    God bless.

Thank you, Brother for these kind words. I love you, even though you voted for George McGovern for POTUS.

Sandie, ditto, it certainly wasn't your fault.

Now, for whatever it may be worth to you, at this point, what's happened here is the reason why I suggested waiting a bit before tackling study of this subject.

Sounds like you're settling in, once again, at your old church. IMO, that's a blessing as you're not dealing with the issues that made you less than happy at the other church you were attending. That type of distraction, for lack of a better word, can and will interfere with your walk with our Lord. Speaking from experience, as I've been there / done that.

Once you've settled in, begin your study of this topic, if you wish and as the Holy Spirit leads you. Talk with your pastor about reference materials that he can recommend. Use a search engine to look up web sites that cover the history, origins, etc. Look for sites with commentary, both pro and con. Study at your own pace. As you've seen, this is a highly controversial topic in discussion forums. Yes, plural, as this debate, often with less than Christ like words, is wide spread on the net.

As I've ,mentioned a couple of times, now, I'm not ready to dive into this study, as I have done with other subjects such as evolution. BTW, the results of that study did cause a 180 degree change in what I thought I believed and understood. So, it's not that I don't want to put in the effort. I'm just not ready to deal with what I'm sure I'll encounter and have to wade through to get to the essence of both sides of this debate, along with the fense sitters, too.

May our Lord bless you as you continue to mature in His word through your studies.
