The British don't document what the hospitals looked like before but Venezuela was somewhat wealthy before El Loco and their doctors are good doctors.

Chavez apparently expected to fund his domestic programs and his international socialistic agenda with oil money--but then the price of oil dropped. Chavez and now Maduro used to prop up Cuba but the collapse of oil prices forced Obama to intervene on behalf of Cuba to try and get them some money as Cuba is even worse than Venezuela. Chavez died with a fortune of 5 billion and undoubtedly the Castros have even more after 56 years of theft and murder.

As far as I know the collapse began under El Loco.

All that single-payer systems create are shortages and now it is the turn of the USA under Obamacare to await the fate of Latin American socialized medicine. Already rural hospitals are closing and Medicare has been so robbed that rationing (death panels) are very much on the horizon under Obamacare.
