    Found this on FB-
    Open for discussion:

The Bible I read is superior to "the original autographs" because we actually HAVE it, and we can read, study, and memorize it.
I don't understand the thought process that thinks God was so stupid that he gave his words infallibly and then left us at the mercy of man's best efforts. The Bible tells me that God does some things based on foreknowledge. I believe God gave his words in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek in a form, that once translated into English, would be the final, perfected, purified form of his words for the largest audience ever in human history.
I don't believe God is so shortsighted and powerless that he would give his words and then lose them in dead languages. Is anything too hard for God? No - he gave us his words in English in EXACTLY the way he wants us to have them, in the King James Bible.

There's nothing you can say to that person. Their god is their King James Bible.
    • He believes it, a mere man-made translation, to be superior to God's original words.
    • He believes the language he speaks is the only powerful word. He believe Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek - as in the originals are dead and God's word in those languages are lost.

That first statement is absolutely correct from a philosophical perspective. A bible we can read is better than a bible we can't read.

The rest is, at best, highly questionable, and at worst pure nonsense.

The person quoted there would be the same as the one I have read who said the Logos in John Gospel referred to the KJV!

Psalms 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The question is, did he?... Each one has to figure that out for themselves... I'm satisfied!... Brother Glen:)

The question is: what is the antecedent of "them?" According to the rules of Hebrew grammar the antecedent of "them" is the poor and needy of verse 5, NOT the "words" of verse 6. :)

The KJV translators even put a note to that effect in the margin of the 1611 edition. :)

I have copy and past the comments:

We should admit -that the original autograph would be the best.

Jason S Mitchell, everybody loves "more accurate" until it comes to "thees and thous", then they ignore it. Plural pronouns start with "y" in the King James Bible, singular pronouns start with "th". Modern English has no distinction, but Greek did, so the King James translators used "thee and thou" and "ye and you" to maintain that distinction. None of the modern versions do.

Can't read the originals anyway. I'm pretty sure God can handle transitioning language. Hence why some die and some develop. The originals are in a language literally nobody speaks nor can be fluent in. Thus making them irrelevant.

KJB is at a 5th grade reading level. So if it's hard to read... Lol

David Bell You believe in infallible scraps of paper that were never compiled into a book (Bible) that don't exist anymore as far as we know.
Jeremiah 23 shows that God places no importance on the "originals". Neither Jesus nor the apostles ever mentioned "the originals" - it's an unscriptural hang-up. Too many want the words of God subject to them, rather than them being subject to the words of God.

The originals were inspired from God, the kjv was not, nor any other translation for that matter!

Ask Bell if he has the original mss of the KJV. Or maybe they no longer exist, so he is in the same boat as those he opposes. :)

This is sacrilegious. I hate it when people say, "If God didn't...then he is stupid.

What Bell is missing entirely is the difference between a miracle and God's providence. When I say God preserved His Word through humans, that is still God at work. But if the preserved Word is perfect, that is miraculous. Where is the miracle that produced the KJV? None of the translators spoke of it, and no one else in 1611 put forth any miracles in that translation.

What ignorance. I teach Greek and my son teaches Hebrew and Greek. There are millions in Greece and Israel who speak those languages, although modified somewhat.

The Holy spirit used Koine Greek, Aramaic, and Biblical Hebrew to get the inspired scriptures to us, is Bell stating here that he is smarter than the Holy Spirit, or knows translation better?
