Sorry, I saw the name Janet Mefferd and quit reading. She's a joke.

Yeah, no worries, never heard of her myself, just threw it up here. There will be a lot of opinions thrown around. I already expressed mine, that he is the perfect choice for the direction being pushed by the current powers at the SBC.

Mohler is a committed warrior for the more traditional camp of the Convention. He used to be liberal years ago, but when you read his testimony of how he got out of that, you know he isn't going back. I dislike his Calvinism, but he would be able to steer the Convention in a more conservative dimension. The problem will be how will more liberal members of the Convention react if he was elected? Mohler in charge may mean a public split.

Splits are not always a bad thing. Sometimes a purge is necessary.

How can you not be liberal and have liberals as your running buddies?

Why would he drive out conservatives? HE IS CONSERVATIVE.

Where can I find a comprehensive bio on Mohler that states his current beliefs? What is his relationship with Greear and the infamous Russell Moore? Why would Mohler be better than Greear? Shouldn't Greear have another term?

Greear is finishing his second and last term.

Mohler is a consummate politician who follows the 11th commandment of not speaking evil of fellow SBC brethren, even if he differs regarding policy or practice. Says it all.

Greear was terrific. He reminded everyone of Pope Francis.

Thank you for the correction. True in that Mohler does not criticisize others in the Convention directly. He is very conservative on doctrine though, so I wonder how he would handle a top leadership role. I assumed he would be staunchly conservative, but yeah, he may be averse to confrontation.

Honest question coming. How can you not like Greear but like Mohler?
Because Mohler is Theologically conservative and clear. Everything I have seen/read from Greear sounds mystical, hazy, hard to follow, and borderline heretical sometimes.

He wasn't averse to confrontation at Southern Baptist Seminary.

Yet Mohler and Greear are running buddies and according to what IIconsider to be a very good source they are very good friends, along with Matt Chandler.
