In previous threads, various people who once used to be premillennial have argued for why premillennialism is not true. They now hold that there will not be a future literal 1000-year reign of Christ on the earth.

To support their current views, they assert that certain large sections of the Bible are symbolic and are not literally true. In this thread, I would like to consider further their claims about what passages are symbolic and what passages are not.

Start by answering the passages you were asked about.
Did the heavens roll up like a scroll?
Did the stars fall to the earth?
Did the sun, moon and stars stop working?

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

One person has argued that premillennialists must deny that what this verse teaches is true.

According to this text, God has raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Has God literally already done both of these things for every believer?

No finite human can be in more than one place at the same time. Either we are presently alive on the earth or we are presently sitting together in heavenly places in Christ?

Those who reject premillennial views cannot have it both ways. Are we literally sitting right now in heavenly places or are we not?

Furthermore, certain people hold that humans in their physical bodies cannot be in heaven. So, either we are in our physical bodies on earth right now or we are in heaven in some non-physical body right now. Both cannot be true at the same time. Which is it?

Simple answer is that no human being really knows. There are many numbers in Revelation, like the 144 thousand, that are symbolic. It could refer to 1000 years or a very long time. God certainly knows and that is all that really matters

These are merely your assertions. Who says that no human being really knows? How do you know that is true?

You claim that the 144 thousand in Revelation is symbolic. How do you know that is true?

I find no reason in Scripture to believe that the 144.000 in Revelation is a symbolic number. If you have some compelling biblical evidence to show why it is and must be symbolic . . .

I see. This new thread of yours is not really to discuss the topic with others, to examine it carefully. You only want to air your views. Have you considered just starting a blog and leave discussion forums for discussions?

I have set forth biblical material for discussion. If you want to discuss it . . . If you want to discuss other passages, you are free to do so in other threads.

Sorry, wise guy, the text means what it says. You can read. They are believing Israelites that God will use in the future for a special purpose. I do not have any explanation for why it will be 144k. Not having an explanation does not mean that it is symbolic.

Because the Bible doesn't affirm a universalist viewpoint. Not everyone is chosen.

I agree, Scripture should be interpreted literally unless there is reason to believe something is not literal and symbolic. There is no reason to believe 144,000 is symbolic and there is no reason to believe the literal 1,000 year reign is symbolic.

For those who want to make all of Revelation symbolic...

Will Heaven have golden streets with gems and precious stones all over the place? Will the angels be praising and singing to God? Will Satan be cast into a lake of fire? Will there be a judgement seat?

All of these things are in Revelation and I doubt there are many (if any at all) that would argue these things are symbolic.

why do you guys have to see "election" in every verse? Universal salvation is a heresy; universal Death of Jesus Christ, IS 100% Bible, for those who don't have any hang-ups

The poster has heard one view. He most likely is not certain of any other.
He should learn how others come to a different understanding first before attacking other positions
He starts threads hoping others can bail him out.
If the water gets to deep, he opts out and goes back to the kiddie pool.
He then suggests that all others need not apply.
This is not the best way to go about it, but he is "more accurate ".
