Key portions of the White House’s explanation of how President Trump decided to fire FBI Director James Comey came into question on Thursday, underlining a growing credibility crisis for the administration.

Remarkably, it was Trump himself who undercut statements from White House officials about the firing.

In an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt, the president said he had made up his mind about getting rid of Comey even before receiving a recommendation from Deputy Attorney General Ron Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“I was going to fire regardless of the recommendation,” Trump said.

CTB, your logic astounds me, and is quite underwhelming. Donald Trump is the President for the next four to eight years. No one is in office today that was not ordained by the Lord. Have you ever prayed for him? Our Constitution spells out exactly how a President is elected in this Democratic-Republic we live in. Offices in the executive branch serve at the pleasure of the President. When he sees fit to fire someone, that is his right. He does not owe you or anyone else an explanation.

So before the election, Comey protected the Democrat nominee from indictment as he testified before Congress. Putting classified emails on your own computer is against the law. It could be interpreted as treason. The man who is the leader of the FBI is charged with enforcing the law. Had I done one email like that, they would have put me under the jail, not to speak of 33,000. Taking campaign money and tax dollars to channel them to the Clinton Foundation is called theft. The Clintons are nothing more than organized criminals.

Benghazi and 40 bodies is called murder. For you to take those facts Trump fired him because he was not doing his job to put it nicely. You raked Richard Nixon across the coals. He looks like a Sunday School teacher compared to the Clintons.

OK put on your rainbow glasses and tin foil hat and go back to sleep.

The rationale for firing Comey has now shifted three times. This shows a White House that is not telling the truth. The final couple of tweets by Trump were very enlightening. He said his staff has trouble speaking the truth because his stances shift so quickly and that he favors written press releases to messy verbal interactions with reporters. Also, in an interview he said that former FBI director Comey better hope that there are no tape recordings of their conversations.

    So:
    1. Admit you change your mind so frequently your staff can't tell the truth from fiction.

    2. Admit you want to stop meeting with reporters and having them question you and/or your staff. (this interaction is an important part of the job of the press to provide oversight to the office of President.)

    3. Threaten the man you just fired.

    I don't know...that sounds a lot like how a dictator would behave.

It shows the White House is revealing the truth bit by bit. What Trump should say is " I fired him. End of story."

Trump makes the rookie mistake of trying to explain everything to satiate the Democrats and the press. He has the absolute authority to fire the FBI director for any reason - and that is the end of the story.

To see how a dictator would behave just go back to the previous administration. That poor excuse for a constitutional leader did the following:

    1. He used the IRS to go after his political opponents.

    2. He went after members of the press.

    3. He used Executive Orders in an attempt to actually change laws all by himself.

    4. He lied to the American people about his healthcare program and shoved it down everyone's throat's with taxpayer provided bribes.

Do I need to say anything more?

So which of the three stories is the truth? Can the truth have three versions?

Just more proof that you cannot believe anything the Trump administration or Trump says. How many different stories have come out in less than 72 hours on why the FBI director was fired. The timing is very suspicious indication an attempted cover-up of the Russia connection!

    Remember Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre?

    Ah sure, that makes sense:

    1st reason: 25% true and 85% false
    2nd reason 30% true and 70% false
    3rd reason 45% true and 55% false
    -----------------------------------------------
All reasons 100% true and 200% false

You have to sift through media lies. What has come out in congressional hearings 100% supports trump. The big lie about Comet asking for more money from DOJ, being a prime example.

Maybe if the president blamed it on a YouTube video that angered Muslims. That's the ticket!

Trump bullies people to get his way no matter what. And that really that is not being a President as he did in business. As being the President and being in business are two different things.
Plus Democrats that wanted to get rid of Comey, now are questioning along with the GOP, if the firing came at a bad time as well as out of the blue.

The excuses have changed for sure. All just to keep from telling the truth. Comey is incompetent., tainting what should be purely legal decisions with politics.

    Really?

That's what Obama did. He was one of the worst presidential bullies of all time.

And he had zero background in business.

    What was his excuse?
