A release from Ligonier Ministries on the death of R.C. Sproul: Dr. R.C. Sproul, Called Home to the Lord

A faithful servant of Christ is now in the presence of His Redeemer. He leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness that will strengthen and equip Christians for generations to come.

I just seen that on Twitter. One of the all time great teachers. The world has lost a great man, but R.C. is now in the presence of the Lord. A very bittersweet moment.

There is no one to fill his shoes.

There are good and godly men, but not any to fill those shoes.

Great quote from him -- “Far from falling asleep, we are awakened to glory in all of its significance. For the believer, death does not have the last word. Death has surrendered to the conquering power of the One who was resurrected as the firstborn of many brethren.”

Heard him preach twice -- once in my church and once at St. Andrew's Chapel. He will be missed.

Yes. And the videos and MP3s. . . Thank God for the technology that keeps his teaching alive.

This might sound strange, but I am so thankful that Jesus is the One that we revere and worship, as even the best of us are mere mortal men and women.

I am sure ever more so the early church felt same way about John/peter/paul and rest of the Apostles, but Jesus is the head of the Church, and he is the only one that we worship and obey!

I wasn't aware that I was either worshipping or obeying RC Sproul by showing my gratitude for his work as a teacher.

Also, there is a famine in the land, in case you hadn't noticed. There are fewer and fewer godly teachers. They have been replaced by entertainers who tickle ears, so we should all be thankful for good teachers, and we should all mourn the loss of a great one who we just lost.

You misunderstood me, as was not saying that RC Sproul did not deserve any credit or praise, was just appreciating the truth that we have Jesus, who will never die again, and we will always have him as our one to look upon, and that he will make sure to keep sending gifted pastors and teachers into His church!
When one, great as RC Sproul moves on, God replaces Him with another.
