Voice controlled TV - be very careful

    Ok....this just happened-

    My wife was going to change channels. She pressed the blue button and said "freeform". The TV heard "free porn" (there isn't any, if y'all was wondering).

    Had to share....that's the funniest thing that happened today.

    Try closed caption TV... As you know I have Deaf Son and he is coming to visit this Christmas and when the people talk they show what they are saying but not always... Sometimes what they say vocally is not what the caption says... What is happening is not what is being said and that really causes problems... My son turns to me and signs WHAT?:confused:... So I have to pause the TV and explain... Example we were watch a program where someone slipped on ice, the caption said he slipped on slice... My son janked my shirt and said WHAT SLICE?... I said no not SLICE... ICE!... Oh he said that makes better sense because I didn't see no Banana:Roflmao... After I picked myself off the floor we continued watching TV... TV around here when my son comes to visit gets more entertaining than you think... Brother Glen:D

    I'm not having any of those voice activated electronics in my house. Interactive televisions and Alexa are permanently banned.

    I've had several interesting discussions with people who work at secure sites. I knew we couldn't carry phones in the building but I thought it was so we wouldn't take pictures. Turns out it's because a 3rd party can activate the camera or mic without you knowing. I know a guy who has electric tape over the camera on the screen side of his phone.

    But my favorite discussion was about alexa. I mentioned how it's always listening and the guy replied he didn't care - as long as the thing worked his tv and lights it could broadcast to the world his conversations at home.

    I'm more inclined to his thinking. I figure my next move is to a nursing home and there's no privacy there, so I have 20 to 30 years to get used to it before I go. :Biggrin
