Roughly 80% of all voters say U.S. needs secure borders, including 68% of Democrats: Harvard poll

A wide-reaching new poll conducted by Harvard University reveals that majorities of U.S. voters — including Democrats — appear to agree with many of President Trump’s most basic beliefs about immigration.

The findings reveal, for example, that eight out of 10 of all U.S. voters — 79 percent — say the U.S. needs secure borders; 93 percent of Republicans, 80 percent of independents and 68 percent of Democrats agree with that.

Yeah but there have been reports saying Democrats want to secure the border but do not want to give the President what he wants due to not liking him.

    Of course!

The socialist/democratic sees no violation of their principles when others suffer as long as they do not.

That is basic human preservation displayed around the world as believers as sheep each day are lead to the slaughter houses.

And now comes the BIG TOOTHACHE for the DNC:

The POTUS apparently has decided to make this an issue of a National Crisis which is not difficult to prove as Soros has been at his mischief again supplying funds, food clothing and transportation for THOUSANDS from Central America through Mejico to the US border which has now (although not well reported by the marxist media) become violent.

IF the Liberal Progressives force a judicial challenge to the POTUS Executive action of a WALL/Fence/gate/obstruction/whatever the DNC will suffer greatly as the challenge will be tremendous fodder for the Right Wing to show the total hypocrisy and political positioning of said DNC.

Assuming of course that they (Right Wing) act like men (oops sorry ladies) and come the aid of their POTUS..

Where are senators Deborah and Hulda when we need them?

If the marxists challenge the "National Emergency" Executive order of the POTUS to erect the unnamed structures along our southern border and the "Right Wingers" can find a spine to stand with the president then the 2020 election (probably with a healthy majority in both houses) IS IN THE BAG for Robin Hood (guess who :)).

The wall fiasco MUST be kept alive even if the wall is built by 2020 in order to fuel the base and keep it growing.

Harvard-Harris Poll: What The Latest Immigration Polls Do (And Don’t) Say
Harvard-Harris Poll: What The Latest Immigration Polls Do (And Don't) Say

This is what the polling company (Harris) says about this poll.

“It’s an 80-percent issue, people want to close down the borders,” he told NPR’s Rachel Martin. “It’s a 70-percent issue to end chain migration. [A] 68-percent issue to end the visa lottery program and ask people to come here on merit. That’s a 70-percent issue. And this is a study from Harvard.”

First things first — there’s a lot more to these poll numbers than Gidley is saying.

That Harvard Harris poll didn’t find that 8 in 10 Americans want to “close down the borders.” Rather, it asked Americans, “Do you think we should have basically open borders or do you think we need secure borders?”

Poll Majorities oppose Trump wall funding demand, call for compromise
Poll: Majorities oppose Trump's wall funding demand, call for compromise

This is a Dec. 28, 2018 poll by the same company (Harris/Harvard).

Most voters oppose President Trump’s demand for border wall funding, but think that the White House and congressional Democrats should compromise on funding for the president’s long-promised project, according to a new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released exclusively to The Hill.

The survey found that 56 percent of respondents do not support the president’s proposal to construct a wall along the southern border, compared to 44 percent who do.

The Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey found, however, that a slight majority of U.S. voters polled, 51 percent, believe that Democratic lawmakers and the president should compromise and agree on a $2.5 billion funding package for border security. Forty-nine percent said that they should not compromise.

It also didn't say that monkeys with tails can hang by them. It also didn't say Obama thinks of himself as the savior of the progressive world.

It also didn't say... well, get an encyclopedia and make yourself happy.

I guess I missed the links to the second poll, or else it isn’t actually available yet. But I’m not sure it matters much. The first poll is telling, and many questions are missing in any case.

The 79% probably means at least this many want real barriers, serious barriers to illegal entry all along the border. If asked the right questions about drug smuggling, sex trafficking, child molestation, gang activity, epidemics, and illegals stealing jobs, evading taxes, living on welfare, committing crimes, etc., the number might shoot up to nearly 100%.

I'll make it simple. The poll didn't show that:
Harvard Poll: 80% of Voters say U.S. needs secure borders (NOT TRUE)

Right. Which brings into question what the people have in mind. Without more questions about what they mean by secure, we don’t know.

Describing a barrier that would work is not as telling as asking what they are hoping to achieve. Stop drug smuggling? Stop sex trafficking? Stop child molestation by migrants? Stop the flow of gangs into the US? Stop illegals from taking jobs away from Americans? Stop illegals from draining the American economy of billions of dollars? Etc.

How the questions are framed will also make a big difference. If we could reduce ___________ by 90% would you be in favor?
