"The high temperature for Evansville on Tuesday was 92 degrees, according to weather.com.

Temperatures can rise quickly inside a vehicle parked in the sun. The Mayo Clinic reports a car could heat as much as 20 degrees in only 10 minutes.

"Unfortunately, this isn't the only case like this," Ashworth said. "It may not be the last."

Last year, 52 children in the U.S. died of heat-related illnesses after being left in a hot vehicle.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration advises parents to make a habit of checking the front and back seats of a vehicle every time they get out and before locking the doors. Bystanders are told to call 911 right away if they see a child inside a car who is not responding or seems distressed."

Honestly, how can a parent forget they have a child in the car??? Are their brains fried on drugs or something??

My wife forgot when our son was young. It was a hot, hot, day. She came walking into the fellowship hall at church without our son. I asked her where he was and she took off running to the car. He was only in there a couple of minutes and was still napping. The best parents do have memory lapses. I have ADHD and I had to be extra, extra, careful not to let it happen with me. My wife was just distracted by one of the women at church talking to her on the phone about what was going to be happening that night.

Tragic death and can't imagine the horrible guilt trip to follow.

Evansville is southern Indiana on the Ohio River in the southwestern part of Indiana. I have never been there but it must be humid most of the time on the river.
