In resurfaced interview, Ilhan Omar answers question on 'jihadist terrorism' by saying Americans should be 'more fearful of white men'

    ___________________________________________________________________________________

My position on this statement is that it is not racist. Criticism of a particular race is not automatically racist. Her facts are wrong on white men, her reason for saying it is wrong but it is not racist. However, if something was said like this by a white man about another race they would call for his hanging.,

She has the intention of changing this country likely toward a muslim nation, but this statement is not racist.

Yes, that's because racism is a one-way street and only white people can be racist. It is racist to hate people of any color, except white people. White people are racist on the basis that they were born white. White is a racist color. White bread, white rice, powdered sugar, white milk, aspirin, flour, granulated white sugar, Milk of Magnesia, grits, white chocolate, coconut, etc. It's all racist food. White is just racist. We need to ban the color white.

Yet, I cannot look at this without seeing strong prejudice which would lead to suspicion of racism: "Americans have more to fear from black people than radical Islamic terrorism." ?

    That is correct statistically.

The fact remains Islam is a dangerous and violent religion. Muhammad raped a nine year old according to any Islamic scholar. He made out with boys and girls according to the hadiths. I cannot take any adult seriously whose religion was based on the ramblings of a pedophile pervert.

Sadly, we live in a world that does not make rational decisions. I know so many good Muslims, it can't be a bad religion. That the Muhammadians raped and killed their way across the world and forces the doctrine of once a Muslim, always a Muslim upon "nice" people does not make it a nice religion. ISIS was a true modern Islamic Caliphate.

Though her comments, because of their generality, were not only racist but sexist as well, perhaps that should not be the focus. The real problem is her goal.

Speaking for Muslims, Omar seeks to dilute the discussion, minimize the apparent threat of Islamic terrorism, make it sound like we are our own worst enemy, so the threat can grow unabated.

However, the effects of the 9/11 attacks, carried out in so short a time by just a handful of people of a certain persuasion, were such that Americans should have the same Never Again attitude toward Islamic terrorism that Jews have toward the Holocaust.

We don't need to focus on her racist sexist remarks, but rather address her justifying Islamic terrorism and trying to cover for those who actively support it and carry it out. Omar and Tlaib don't belong in Congress any more than Nazis in the Knesset.

No they weren't. Define racist and then relate it to her comment. Simply criticizing a group of people doesn't make it racist.

    Agreed.
    Agreed.
    Agreed.
    Agreed.
On the contrary, those are important reasons to treat it as inherently racist and sexist. It wasn't simply criticizing a particular group of people or race.

It wasn't really criticism of white men but rather an attack on their very existence.

You missed the point while on that anti-religion thingy of yours, I changed the "white" to "black" to demonstrate that the expression did indeed make a suggestion of racism but of which is rarely noticed if it is against whites. As per the radical Islamic terrorism it is not racist to call out these thugs but to make a comparison based on skin color is regardless whether it is white or black. The statement is saying based on the color of skin they are worse than ISIS thugs, period.

Perhaps we essentially agree here. I edited the one comment about 'good Muslims,' as the differential from italics is otherwise lost in the post quote.

Sadly, many people do think that way. Radical Islam, that is, traditional Islam, is a serious threat and will only grow as the number of Islamic adherents grows and its tenets forced into the educational system. By allowing apologists like Omar such an official, public platform, perhaps we are our own worst enemy.

I pointed out that you were statistically correct.

RevM, you need to fix that quote so that you are not putting words in my mouth. I did not say 'Yes it was.' Those are your words.

They aren't even criticisms per se, but rather general, unfounded, prejudicial comments, making them textbook racism-sexism. However, though they are not good, I don't particularly care whether anyone else recognizes the inherent prejudice in the statements. It isn't the real point.

The real concern is what she is cleverly getting away with by using the rhetorical device. Because they wholeheartedly agree with all the animosity aimed at conservative "white men," the progressive left will idiotically swallow the rest hook, line, and sinker and embrace the growing presence and activity of radical Islam in the US.

I tried the board is doing this weird thing where it sometimes add closing quotes. I have not been able to get it to stop. I deleted the closing quotes several times and the editor always adds them.
