Florida man who overslept and missed jury duty gets criminal record cleared

I was on a jury panel where a juror failed to show a while back.
We sat for a week listening to a long list of witnesses.
After a weekend break we arrived Monday for a summary, then we would sit for deliberations.

But one of our group failed to show up.
We sat for hours.
The juror finally arrived around lunch time.

In the meantime the lawyers decided to allow the judge to decide the verdict.
He allowed the jury to hear his verdict - probably the same one we would have come to.

The late arrival wasted half-a-day for a score of people = 10 days.

Jury duty has turned into a bunch of crap. It's not about evidence, it's about which attorney is the best actor. I always get out of it.

 

"Good" lawyers try to win trials in jury selection. The bigger the case, the less relevant evidence is, just ask Jessie Smollett.

 

I was in for jury selection at a federal court house. Questions came up concerning homosexual behavior. Each of us potential jurors were given a number and when asked if any of us did not approve of homosexual marriage, stand and give our number. Then we wete told to stand and give our number if we thought that homosexual sex was wrong. There may have been a dozen of us who stood to be identified. Needless to say, none of us were picked.

The trial was fot a foreign college student who was caught in a police sting for soliciting sex with a same sex minor. The selected jurors were all young, 20ish females.
