With all the discussion on Strong's versus Young's concordances, I feel like a return to Cruden's Concordance.

A few years ago, I used to sit in the pew close to someone who brought his Cruden's Concordance and KJV every Sunday. Now this saint was equipped.

'Young's for the young, Strong's for the strong and Cruden's for the crude'

With digitalization of texts one can carry a large library in their pocket.

I use Logos Bible Software and it's not unusual for me to...
    • do an on-the-spot original-language word-study,
    • check a few different translations,
    • examine some choice commentaries,
    • add notes to the passage we are studying,
...all while, continuing to outline the sermon I'm listening to.

I'm waiting for @Jphn of Japan to recover from his surgery to comment on the different concordances.

Thanks for posting about the surgery of John of Japan. I join many others who have missed his voice here on BB.

I can say that I used Strong's Dictionary in the back of my Strong's Concordance many times over.

However, I have never owned a Young's Concordance. So I cannot speak to the Young's Dictionary.

    *****

How do the two concordance dictionaries compare -- Strong's versus Young's?

Strong better definitions, but Young easier to use for word studies.

Alistair Begg told his church (during a sermon) that when anyone asks him where a certain verse is in the Bible, he now tells them to look it up themselves, because "I'm not Young's Analytical Concordance." LOL
