Maybe, but we didn't have 24 hour news and the internet during those administrations. Even if they were exactly like Trump, the average American wouldn't hear many details.

he has faults, but think that many like him due to him speaking out as if was one of us!

Speaking out is fine. But often he's unnecessarily rude, crass, and petty. I would hope that the President could reign himself in on these matters. He can still be straightforward, brutally honest, and a fighter without having to insult people based on their appearances, etc.

I think we both know that the Democrats provide more than enough for him to attack without having to resort to name-calling.

Unfortunately, for many, it would become a main issue of rather or not one supports the homosexual lifestyle or not.
The Dems would be screaming "homophobia" at the top of their lungs as one of their perceived most persuasive arguments why to side with them.
...but this back door moral values issue will not nearly be enough to give Buttiegg the support he would need.

If your wondering as a Christian who to vote for, vote for the man who is most likely to support godly Christ centered living in society, not that the man may or may not be godly themself in your opinion, but the policies of the man, do they promote Christianity and godly living. As in how you get to live your life in a more god centered way with less distraction from evil things and evil ungodly policies being pushed and promoted in society, in your country.

    For example
1 Timothy 2:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV)
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,
2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Democratic progressive and socialist policies are being forced into your life whether you like it or not and they are ungodly ones promoting ungodliness.

The second psalm is as highly appropriate today as it ever was.
The ungodly must be ruled with an iron rod as they rage against God and His commandments.

1 Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”

    4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.

5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:

6 “Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”

7 “I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
    ‘You are My Son,
    Today I have begotten You.

8 Ask of Me, and I will give You
    The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

    9 You shall break them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”

    10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.

11 Serve the Lord with fear,
    And rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

Its that neither side is giving a choice that will allow for this, there is not much choice in any of the candidates.

His opponents McCain and Romney weren't going to be any different and most likely even worse.

The same as if he were not running for president.

[1] Pray for his salvation. Pray for his husband's salvation.
[2] Pray for his deliverance from homosexuality and his husband's deliverance.

    If he got the nomination:

[3] Do not vote for him.
    [4] Continue with prayers.
[5] Do not publicly mock, ridicule, nor air his shame as if you are perfect.
[6] Pray for the party that nominated him.
[7] When confronted with your opinion of him as a nominee - in a Christ-like manner, explain why you cannot and are not voting for him, but are praying for him and his party. Spell and pronounce his last name correctly and do not mock it.

Your advice is contrary to the prayer Jesus made for Himself, His Disciples, AND His Church. Known as John chapter 17.

    7) Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
    8) For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from there, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
    9) I pray for THEM: I PRAY NOT FOR THE WORLD, but for THEM which thou hast given me; for THEY are thine.
    10) And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in THEM.
    11) And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that THEY may be one, as we are.
    12) While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scriptures might be fulfilled.
    13) And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
    14) I have given them thy word; and the World hath hated them, because they are not of the World, even as I am not of the World.
    15) I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the EVIL.
    16) They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
    17) Sanctify them through thy truth: THY WORD IS TRUTH.
    18) As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
    19) And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through THE TRUTH.
    20) NEITHER PRAY I FOR THESE ALONE, BUT FOR THEM ALSO WHICH SHALL BELIEVE ON ME through their word;
    21) That they ALL may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

This mayor has repeatedly attacked Conservative Christians that hold tight to THE TRUTH. He is the face of the world.

Yes, I'm quite familiar with John 17. I've taught it many times. It's Christ's great priestly prayer. He knows he is about to depart this earth and he is praying for himself and for those believers he is leaving behind. And - he prays for us as believers. It's a great intercessory prayer for believers. And you have taken it out of context to say that Jesus meant we should not pray for lost people.

This prayer does not mean that we are not to pray for the lost and for sinners entrenched in abomination. 1 Timothy 2 says that we should pray for all people.

And Jesus, himself, said in his great Sermon on the Mount that we are to pray for our enemies in Matthew.

    Love Your Enemies

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be as your heavenly Father is perfect."

I have gay people in my life. I have all kinds of sinners in my life.

I'm not going to stop praying for their deliverance from sin. I'm not going to stop praying for their salvation. I'm not going to START treating them as enemies and hate on them.

    I don't have to agree with their politics - and I don't

But I cannot toss prayer by the wayside when the Bible teaches otherwise.

A man cannot have a husband, why do you play their game by saying such things?

A man cannot BE a wife. I didn't realize there was a game going on.

The whole thing is grievously sad.

I'm a Hoosier and I can neither spell his last name correctly and I am not sure how to pronounce it. We just call him Mayor Pete. South Bend is a high crime area and a tough place to live. The winds come south off Lake Michigan and dump tons of snow on South Bend every year--just like Buffalo, New York, perhaps the snow capital of the USA. Also, South Bend has lost many industries such as Studebaker automobiles and it is pure rust belt with few jobs and memories of better days. The only thing South Bend has going is nearby ultra liberal Catholic university Notre Dame. South Bend has had a high crime rate since right after World War II. Cities that far north in Indiana have a winter like Michigan. The worst city in the USA is officially Gary, Indiana.

Once a street fighter, always a street fighter. He follows what has worked for him, & continues to work for him. Never flat footed. Never boring. Never fake, & THAT is one of my favorite things that I value in this President. I think he deserves just a bit of credit for doing all the positive things he has done in spite of the tremendous pressure put on him from every direction. Plus.......he doesn’t have his enemies suicided, so there’s that.

Buttigieg won an essay contest as a teen, praising ALL things about Bro Bernie. There is no possible way a Christian today could support any Democrat. All the brain drain what if’s are a ludicrous waste of time.
