What Is Your Favorite Book of the Bible?

Seasons of life and book I am studying effects the book I most am drawn to.

In season of grieving, I am drawn to Job, Habakkuk and the Psalms of mourning.

When studying the life of Jesus, I am often drawn to Johns gospel.

At present I am studying Romans and am amazed at Paul's apologetic skills as he unveils argument for the gospel being for all peoples, not just Jews. His Jewish, rabbinical skills are on full display. It's a masterpiece.

 

1 John is my favorite. It runs almost like a test of salvation, and builds up the believers.

 

For some reason in the epistles the letter that I tend to read the most is Romans.

When I need encouragement from the Lord about who He has made me to be and how much He loves me, I read all of the epistles ( especially Ephesians ), and several others including 1 John.
I've spent much time over the years in the Psalms for comfort when I'm hurting, and much time in Romans for doctrine and guidance on other subjects....
I've probably been through Romans more than 50 times, if not over 100 ( I've lost count ), the Psalms well over 30 if not much more.


I'm amazed that God would bother to extend His grace and mercy to me through His Son,
and to preserve His words for me and others like me to take comfort in ( Romans 15:4 ).

 

I have favorite books and parts of the Bible. Select Bible references. But we need the whole Bible. FYI of the book I select John's gospel account.

The purpose of the gospel of John is the purpose of the gospel. And reveals God in Christ.

 

I would have to say Romans is my favorite book of the Bible and Paul is my favorite apostle. The book of Romans tells us about Pauls struggle with sin and warned us it would be a struggle. He told us how to be saved and what it meant to be so. Paul was definitely the apostle to the Gentiles. Even though many Jews were saved because of his testimony. He suffered greatly for his testimony.

IMO, the Revelation of God through the Lord Jesus Christ is one of the major, if not the most major theme of the Bible.

 

I was looking for a book that would discuss the state of the believing church, easy to apply for today and thus settled on 1 Corinthians. I have read that book at least 45 times since last Dec. 1st. I have at last count 23 stand alone commentaries on it. I don't want to say it's my favorite book but I have read and studied it a lot. And still I'm ignorant on this book.

 

I would have to say John, followed by Revelation.

John is so exact in His choice of words, the accounts of Christ he shares, and the total devotion displayed in both his accounts of what he witnessed.

 

Goes back and forth between Romans and James.

 

13 for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified: Ro 2

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. Ja 1

 

Sometimes Hebrews, sometimes John’s Gospel, others Romans, Ephesians or Colossians.

most often come back to John.

 

Definitely the Psalms for my current season of life.

Overall I have always had a soft spot for Ecclesiastes.
