It was a terrible end for a woman who had been deceived by the Trump apologists.

She was trying to keep others from breaking through that window. Its likely the shooter was just shooting into the crowd. No specific target in mind. Would make it an illegal shooting.

Everyone who was involved in the assault on the Capitol should have been arrested immediately, but that's not how things happen when a large armed mob overwhelms a police force who has to devote significant resources to protecting the lives of the heads of government.

In the same way, all of the Japanese airmen, submariners, and sailors should have immediately been peacefully taken prisoner at the attack on Pearl Harbor, but the US military did not have the capability to do so, so they had to fight back with lethal force. The Polish Army should have peacefully taken prisoner all of the German forces that invaded on September 1, 1939, but they did not have the means to do so.

When people do evil things, the authorities sometimes have to use lethal force to protect the innocent.
