Yep. Celts (Galacians derives from "Gaul", the Latin term for "Celt") were considered barbarians, although they were in some respects technologically advanced.

Hello....I did not say or infer I would do that! I did not say anybody had a right to take some wiccan and burn him to death...

I said it wouldn't be politically correct. Pun...hello????? Good grief! Don't Barbarians ever make sick jokes? [IMG]

Sick jokes? No, not much. I used to be a volunteer fireman. I don't joke about people burning alive. It's not a very pleasant way to die. Not pretty to see, either.

I wonder if you would think it was funny if someone remarked that it was a shame that torturing Christians to death was politically incorrect.

Somehow, I don't think you would.

Fact is thousands of Christians are tortured and murdered all over the world. 2 million Christians have been murdered by Muslims in Sudan, for one. But it seems some people are more concerned about what happens to witches than to Christians. Just an observation.

I don't think the argument "But they do it, too!" is very persuasive. In the Sudan, religious fanatics have control. Here, thank God, all they can do is post their dreams on the internet.

It's very horrible that Christians are tortured in other countries. It's just as horrible when non-Christians are tortured in other countries.

Nonetheless, I don't live in those other countries. My only ability to affect those other countries is rather limited.

I do, however, live in the United States. Given that I think certain things are atrocities or non-permissible in a civilized society (like torture, or forced conversion to a state belief, or punishment for having the wrong belief), I tend to spend my time making sure these things don't happen here.

I'm quite saddened to hear about the plight of Christians in Sudan, of Muslims in Serbia, and every other instance of one group being persecuted by another.

Here is an extensive link to Mr. Twain

    http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/mark_twain/index.shtml

"The Bible is "a mass of fables and traditions, mere mythology."
[Mark Twain, "Mark Twain and the Bible"]

You can never find a Christian who has acquired this valuable knowledge,
this saving knowledge, by any process but the everlasting and all-
sufficient "people say". In all my seventy-two years and a half I have
never come across such another ass as this human race is."
    [Mark Twain's Autobiography]

In religion and politics, people's beliefs and convictions are in
almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination,
from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at
issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners,
whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing."
    [Autobiography of Mark Twain]

"Jesus died to save men- a small thing for an immortal to do, & didn't
save many, anyway; but if he had been damned for the race that would
have been act of a size proper to a god, & would have saved the whole
race. However, why should anybody want to save the human race, or damn
it either? Does God want its society? Does Satan?"
    [Mark Twain, Notebook #42]
    -----------------------------------------------
And the Best of ALL :

"Strange...a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet
preferred to make bad ones; who made them prize their bitter life, yet
stingily cut it short; mouths Golden Rules and forgiveness multiplied
seventy times seven and invented Hell; who mouths morals to other people
and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes yet commits them all; who
created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility
for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs,
upon himself; and finally with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this
poor, abused slave to worship him!"
    [Mark Twain]

Oh my goodness – Eagle – thank you for giving me a REALLY good laugh today!! It is truly amazing the garbage people will believe! First of all – Wiccan’s DON’T perform animal sacrifices! Especially because an animal would be considered a “familiar” and revered and loved like any other family pet! The urban legends of black cats being killed at Halloween is juts that – a stupid, urban legend just like the ones about people being drugged at parties, waking up in a tub of ice with their kidneys removed. Knowing someone, who knows some one who is something or the other is proof of nothing – and is HERESAY! Have you actually seen a coven sacrifice animals? Have you witnesses any Wiccan rituals? If you had you would know that what you say I S BS through and through. And if you anything about “witches” and “witchcraft” you would know that male witches DO NOT call themselves warlocks. Warlock is a derogatory term to male witches like nigger is to black men.

And yes – covens practice in nature, because it is an EARTH based religion!! Ohhhhhh –spooky!!! And the only way someone could have control over traffic lights would be through some sort of electronic device. Did you see him carrying around the Satanic Bible? And since the Satanic Bible was written by a mortal man, one Anton LeVay (oh yeah – just like the Bible) it amounts to the same sort of fiction as any other mythical piece of work. Again – scary – a book – ooooohhhhhh – watch out.

Laugh and mock all you want. I don't care to investigate witch web sites or wiccan sites. I don't play with demonic spirits in ouija boards or tarot cards either. I don't call 800 numbers for fortune telling.

And, yes, as a matter of fact, my son used to work with this person and I was acquainted with this person. So you go ahead and believe whatever you want. And get a good laugh for the day. You can make me the butt of your jokes and ridicule, but count on this: I am NOT a liar and I don't post rumors as my own personal experiences. I can discern spirits and I can detect a mean spirit coming from your post.

Maybe Wiccans are different where you live. But the ones I've seen are pretty peacable people, who don't sacrifice animals. They have, IMO, a sort of romantic latter-day misinterpretation of primitive nature religion. Not my sort of thing, but certainly not satanic.

Rumors like this are certainly in the category of "mean-spirited", and it doesn't take magic to discern what's going on here.

There's no need to spread falsehoods about other religions. Ours is good enough to thrive without any of that.

    Let's keep it real.

I don't see any justification for false witness in any of that.

  14. Neither do I, EagleThingy....and I AM Wiccan.

Unless he is trying to say that Wiccans and other Neo-Pagans are drunken, lewd, fornicating, adulterus, etc. Gee - I didn't that one's religion had anything to do with these sort of acts. I wonder how we are to explain the drunken, lewd, fornicating, adulteress Christians - oh but they aren't TRUE Christians RIGHT?

It is also a really poor idea to base your idea about millions of people because of an experience you had with one person. For if that were true and people were to base their opinions about ALL Baptists upon your behavior - well, let's just say the impression would be less then positive.

Neo-pagans are just like any other person, there are good and there are bad. The experience I have had with literally the very many I know are good people. I have the benefit of having studied paganism and I participate regularly in ritual aspects of Wicca. Therefore I have 1st hand knowledge that Wiccan's DON'T sacrifice animals, or humans. Not only is it illegal but it is immoral and goes against everything Wiccans and Witches (there are not the same) believe in - "An ye harm none - do as ye wilst" kinda excludes KILLING animals or people.

And all through out your Bible your talks about the ills of false witness, so much so that He created a commandment about it and other admonishments against it. And yet you will say whatever it is you believe, without any sort of unbiased investigation AND have the audacity to call yourself a Christian and quote the Bible! You should be ashamed of yourself! And you had better pray that when you do meet your Maker that he does not judge you by the same measure you judge others.

God: Eagle, I have been told by an Angel who talked with another Angel who saw you sacrificing animals and you know what I have to say about that. And that you were lewd, drunken, rude and committed adultery.

Eagle: But, LORD - I have NEVER done such a thing.

God: Eagle, that's not what I heard.

Eagle: But I swear Lord, I did not. See, here is the proof ....

God: I even went on the Internet and SAW that you did these things. And you know - if that kind of standard is good enough for you to judge your fellow man by, why should I use any other standard for you when I have clearly warned you, through my son Jesus, that each man will be judged by the measure he judges his fellow man by? My child it is a shame that while you lived on the Earth that you were to filled with self-righteousness and moral superiority to see that I am in all people, Christian or not. Nothing can come into this world unless it is through me and kindness, love and compassion are not exclusive to those who profess Christianity. You were to be a shining example of my love and mercy and you chose to follow the hatred of man. You believe I am a god of love, yet you believe the false words men have added to my message. Therefore, I have no choice to judge you by the same measure you judged your fellow man and because of this I cannot give you salvation.

Pat Buchanan also proposes a wall between canada and the usa. Instead of closing to border would it not make more sense to annex canada - at least western canada - just for the resources alone (the alberta tar sands have 7X more oil then saudi arabia). It would make more sense in your plan to have direct control over this territory then allow its wealth to be sold to the eruopeans, russians and chinese. :D

I have to agree with some previous posts on the fact that Wiccans and even Satanist do not sacrifice animals as part of there basic beliefs.

However, there are segments of young Kids that are searching for Magical Power etc. and they can sometimes Kill little animals in their mock rituals of what they think will give them these powers. They cannot be called a cult group as they are not organized, nor have any consistent beliefs/rituals. It is the same thing as a few risk takers that race cars on Saturday night on a local vacant street. You can't call that an organized car race. The rules apply only for that night, etc.

Wiccan's and Satanist are lost sheep looking for an answer. They rarely find it in these areas and sometimes keep seeking the truth after some period of time when no real differences occur in their life.

Jesus and his followers did not have to control the civil government in order to introduce into the world the greatest Christian revival ever experienced--that which took place from the second to the fourth century A.D.

When Christianity did achieve the blessing and control of the civil government, look what happened. Aren't the European state churches a good enough example of what happens to the church when it gains control of the state?

And where does the Bible teach Christians to expel their enemies from the land they control and burn heretics at the stake as a demonstration of God's perfect grace in Christ? Must be in that King James Bible, buried in verses that were added by the translators, because it isn't in my Bible.

When was America ever a "Christian" republic? In the early days, after the first great awakening, some 60,000 were converted in those revivals. 60,000 out of 4 million, not even 10 percent were believers. The number of Christians in the population didn't even approach 40 percent until the second great awakening.

Your idea will accomplish only one thing--to corrupt the Christian church, especially the fundamentalist evangelical Christian churches in America, even more than they already are.

According to God's Word, the Bible (which you state you don't believe), when I do meet my maker, the only *angel* accusing me will be the fallen angel, Lucifer, the great accuser. Revelation 12:10 ..."..for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night."

I will be judged for my sinful condition by only one criteria...whether or not I am atoned through accepting the free Gift of Salvation offered through the shed Blood of God's Son, Jesus Christ.
    Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God..
5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned..."
6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

I don't have to be afraid to stand before Almighty God because when Almighty Righteous God looks at *Eagle* it is the Blood of His Own Son, Jesus, He sees! I am so grateful that He loved wicked mankind enough, wicked Eagle enough, that He would send
His Perfect Son, Jesus, to die for my sin and redeem me, buy me, purchase me back to Himself! No, I do not fear to stand before my Maker. The bargain has been sealed by the Holy Spirit and My Name is Already Written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

I worship the Creator of the Universe, not the creation. You have a free will and choice to worship whatever and whomever you choose, which is a right afforded to you by the Constitution of the Most Wonderful Nation on Earth.

To: FocusZX3S2 My quote about burning witches at the stake was a poor attempt on my part to be sarcastic about political correctness.
I am sorry you judge Baptists and me based on the Landover site. I have known thousands of Baptists for over 52 years and don't know any like what is portrayed there.
This site was probably launched by someone who wants to get even with Baptists and/or Christians for some reason or other, and this is how they are trying to do it. The creators of this site seem mentally unbalanced IMHO.

This is all I have to say on any of these subjects for now, because this is all completely off the original topic. [IMG]

It seems that Mark Twains suggestions on how to restore a christian republic are rather drastic. I think things are fine the way they are. We already have a pervasive christian influence in government. Any more influence would be too much.
