When is it time to move on?

I think that if you know deep in your heart that God has called you to be in Ministry at the church you are in right now then you need to stay there.
On the other hand if it is your firm belief that their Doctrine is not what you feel is what God's Word is telling you then I would think about leaving, just make sure it is God doing the leading.

This may be a hard pill to swallow -- but you're not there to teach people your personal beliefs. You're there to teach the bible, as are the pastor, elders, deacons, and other teachers.

Now, your church should have a constitution and/or statement of beliefs; you need to re-look at those. By agreeing to teach in that church, you've implied agreement with that church's statement of beliefs, and have implied agreement to abide by and promote those beliefs. Thus, as a teacher, you are representing that church, not yourself.

If you can no longer abide/agree with, stand by, and/or promote that church's statement of beliefs, you need to sit down with your pastor and discuss the situation in excruciating detail. Don't wait for them to come to you; go to them.

Pray earnestly and fervently, and take care of this situation soon.

 

There are some doctrines that are unimportant to Christian fellowship, and there are essential doctrines. One guidline is: If it is personal; drop it. If it is principle; die for it.

In all my 57 years of ministry, I never had a church that was amil in eschatology. In fact, the majority were dispensational. I never let eschatology come between me and the people in the preaching of God's word. The fact that Jesus was coming again, is essential; the manner of His coming is not.

Just how personal and how essential are the differences to you? If they be principle beliefs to you, there is nothing to do but resign and move on. If they are not really that important, then teach where you can, avoid controversy, and teach those things which cause maturity and growth in the believers.

I am just going to more or less repeat what has already been said. If the differences are over minor issues and you have been led to teach, then set the issue aside and teach. Now if the issue is one of great importance then I would say it is time to move on. The question cannot really be answered without more detail.

By the way I see you are from Miamisburg, OH. Know it well, grew up in Springboro just down the road. Havent been back there in a long time.

 

Baptist bride? Pardon the ignorance, but is that a belief of theirs that Baptist's are the only ones saved? While that is what virtually all cults adhere to, is that, within itself, a reason to leave? KJVO: My Church is too. Again, is it a reason to leave? I believe that the KJV is a very good translation, and our Pastor has come up with some very good points in defense of it.
You have stated that you love this Church.
Since I am guessing that you want opinions, here it is:
Bring your King James Bible to Church, teach from it and avoid teaching on those subjects where you disagree with the Church's doctrinal statement.
There is an old expression:
Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Recently, someone (whom I respect highly) in a church, asked me "how I was doing". I mentioned to him that I was majoring on the majors and minoring on the minors and it was working quite well for me. He understood very well and I was relieved and encouraged by him.

IMhO, Even the Churches in Revelation clue me into this. There must have been other issues in all of those churches. But the Lord only had big issues and major warnings for the most critical.

My family and I just went through about the same thing in our former church. All of us were active in the church (bus ministry, children's classes, choir, sunday school) and I was even going to be the youth pastor in a few months be before we left. The church claimed to be an IFB, but was almost anything but one. After much prayer and talking with our first and current pastor we moved back to where we had started church.

ps The church we left was about 25 miles from our house and this church is about 5 miles. BIG difference.(But the distance dosn't matter as long as you are in God's will.
