'George Clinksdale, a 24-year-old former University of Tulsa football player, died after taking part in the “main event” of Guts Church Fight Night VI.'

This is very sad and a totally unnecessary death.

It reminded me of something I heard a preacher say years ago, "If people want me to grow them a big church I can put on enough 'dog and pony shows' to draw lots of people. There will be no spiritual depth. It will be quantity over quality ... but there will be lots of people. However, I would refuse to do that. I will work for spiritual depth with fewer people who walk with Christ than with many people with no spiritual depth and no walk with Christ."

I used to box in the Navy, in what became known as the Preble Fantail Smokers. Actually, I am surprised at how many Baptist preachers boxed in their youth.

George Clinksdale death is bad, but these things happen. Some might look at it that his time was up according to God and others will say he died early.
Press Maravich son Pete Maravich died playing basketball with James Dobson, was that an early death or God calling him home?
I can't say I'm for boxing at church, it had never crossed my mind.
