Economists say Trump delivered hope

Economists say Donald Trump is right to credit himself for sending consumer confidence to a 15-year high this month as Americans reported a rosy outlook for job creation, business growth and the stock market.

The news broke Tuesday, when the Conference Board said its Consumer Confidence Index soared to 113.7 in December, the highest level since 2001. The jump surprised economists, who say the economy has been slowing down. But it didn’t surprise Trump.

And he hasn't even taken office. Change is on the way! :)

HILARIOUS!!

You guys are great. I'm not supposed to criticize Trump because "he's not even in office yet", and here you are congratulating him for things that have happened even though "he hasn't even taken office."

SMH!

I'm not congratulating him. I'm commenting on the article.

One thing is certain, the Market is anticipating good things. This was not the case in '08, when the semiconductor company I work for laid off 2/3 their workforce on November 5.

We're hiring and installing additional equipment now. :)

HA HA!!

Your company is not hiring and installing new equipment based on hopes. They are doing it based on increased demand for their product. Sheesh!

Lol. You are one presumptuous twit. You didn't learn anything from your dismal failure to predict Trump's political success. You still only think you know things.

Ours is just one fab in a global company that has had to downsize, and the reason equipment is being installed and people are being hired is because some operations are being moved to our area, operations that are hanging by a thread that could not have stood a Clinton win.

And just like they waited for the outcome of the election in '08 to see if it was necessary to go forward with the layoff, things were allowed to continue after the Trump win.

But you know nothing of the semiconductor industry, its volatility and what drives it, and how quickly it reacts to politics. In public, Silicon Valley acts scared, but secretly, they're delighted in the Trump win, as is our vice president of operations.

So, it's not an expansion at all. It's just a rearrangement of existing assets.

Hilarious. I was a research engineer working on semiconductor materials from 1981 to 1990, for DARPA research contracts. I worked in a Class 10 clean room every day. I know plenty about it, and I still converse with my former co-workers several times a year.

But go ahead and attack me and don't address my points (yet again.) Boringly predictable.

No one said it was an expansion. :Coffee

Well, excuse me for interpreting your statement that your company was "hiring and installing additional equipment" as being an expansion. Maybe you could learn to write with some clarity. It's not too late.
