Eclipse safety concerns prompt local school to close Monday

Dayton Christian officials announced Wednesday that they will close the school Monday because of safety concerns surrounding the solar eclipse.

Head of School John Gredy: “After much deliberation and discussion of our options, our leadership team decided the use of a calamity day was the wisest decision for the safety of our student body.”

They want the kids to be able to see the eclipse, but do not want the liability of supervising them doing it.

I'm at a loss for words. The school couldn't have jiggered the schedule to keep the kiddos inside for a bit? Sure, that's a logistical problem, but so is canceling school.

Again, a few Dollar Tree umbrellas could keep the youngsters from looking at the sun. Someone is not thinking clearly.
