Gore has to take a note from the failed prophecies of others. He needs to forecast certain calamities far enough into the future that he would not be living then. His dire prognostication dates should be beyond the time of his contemporaries.

I think he thought there was enough momentum with him that his little movie would have caused enough people to make a change that he wanted.
