I just may agree with President Obama on this issue

Just curious.. why do you agree with Obama on this?

Is it because we need to save the coral reefs?
or is it because we don't need another military base?
or is it because the money we spend for another base would be better spent somewhere else on the military?

Hmm, actually I support building the militiary base on Guam - and thats what I wrote in my "support" msg which got posted.

The petition is to BO to convince him NOT to build the base.
I am supporting that we do build the base petition # 5778

Doesn't quite compute. I thought the Japanese wanted us out of Okinawa and that was why the build up on Guam. It should be obvious that we need a base in the area.

We did defeat the Japanese in WW2, Didn't we? Or did they win their East Asian Co-prosperity Sphere?

My son is married to a lass from Guam, though they're here in the mainland.
Guam is a US territory, not a US state, and as such you would think that mammoth projects like a transferring US base should generate jobs that would primarily benefit people in the territory they being Americans (natural born Guamanians are US citizens, though with no right to vote as I understand except if they're in the mainland, or Hawaii) but no, it won't.
I'm not very sure of the mechanics but I understand the jobs go to "imports" from other Asian countries.
But things may have changed for the brighter since I heard this from my daughter-in-law, hopefully.
