"ISIL is not 'Islamic.' No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of ISIL's victims have been Muslim. And ISIL is certainly not a state; it was formerly al Qaeda's affiliate in Iraq and has taken advantage of sectarian strife and Syria's civil war to gain territory on both sides of the Iraq-Syrian border. It is recognized by no government nor by the people it subjugates."

"ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple, and it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way."

Islam does condone the killing of innocents.

What's the problem? Every middle eastern country I have visited was predominately Muslim and they didn't condone the killing of innocents. That whole paragraph you quoted was nothing more than Obama separating ISIS from those Muslim nations he will need to gain support from in an upcoming fight. Syria and Iran to be specific. If you are looking for him or any U.S. leader in a state of the union address to stand up there and denounce the entire religion of Isam. That just isn't going to happen.

ISIL is Islamic. But it is not Islam. Just like the Westboro is Baptist.

Correct.

And the CiC still doesn't recognize the enemy. You can't beat 'em until you know who they are.

He is the only leader in the free world that refuses to recognize the who they are and what drives them. Islam. A warped version, perhaps, but Islam nevertheless.
