What are your thoughts?

This has been apparent for a long time.

It's OK to kill a baby before he/she travels a few inches. Yet, if someone slightly abuses a kitten they should be put in jail. It's OK to let a baby die without intervention in a failed abortion. Yet, not rendering assistance to a wounded animal is unspeakable cruelty.

Protect the territory of some tiny fish or insect at all costs, regardless of the impact on human lives. People can choose to kill babies but they can't choose to kill a snail darter or a spiny mussel.

I saw a twitter quote the other that stuck out to me:

Plenty of politicians who are opposed to drone strikes on the grounds of morality are perfectly happy with them in utero.

Thought I did but it disappeared.

There is no theological agreement as to when and how the human fetus obtains a soul. I think God creates the soul after the fetus is old enough to live outside the womb. Nothing else computes because well over half of conceptions are spontaneously aborted by God or Mother Nature.

Further, there are millions of "kinds" of living critters which do not have souls.

Violation of Posting Rule 2

Folks: I am closing this thread as as it seems we can not discuss the OP without violating the relevant section of Posting Rule 2:
In addition, topics and/or posts that seek to promote clearly unscriptural and controversial social and moral positions, such as abortion, are prohibited as well. The official position of The Baptist Board is that life begins at conception. Opinions, stated as fact, that would contradict the board's position on this issue will be edited or deleted entirely. The decision to deem a thread or post inappropriate will remain at the discretion of the Webmaster or his designee.
I bolded the operative sentences.
