We will look back on this event, the first of many in a highly partisan takeover from Congress of the power to legislate, as the "first shot" fired in the Second Civil War.President Obama, in the first of potentially many executive actions tied to his State of the Union address, will unilaterally increase the minimum wage for workers under new federal contracts to $10.10 an hour, from $7.25, in an effort to build momentum for a minimum wage hike for all Americans.
The executive order, which had been pushed by progressive Democratic lawmakers, applies to all contractors performing services for the federal government and would affect more than 2 million employees, according to an administration official.
The president will then use Tuesday night's address to press Congress to pass a Democratic plan to increase the overall federal wage to $10.10 over three years, then indexing it to inflation, while also raising the minimum wage for tipped workers, the official said.
With military reductions, a stagnant economy, "hidden" unemployed, and the national debt at an all time high -- 38% of it occurring under the Great Pretender's watch -- America has forgotten what is was like to be free. People take things without thinking, and no longer know how to 'take things with a grain of salt'. Obama is now using his "pen ... and a phone" to rule the nation, without input from Congress. He is literally setting himself up as a dictator. I believe that this is what he was wanting to do back in his first election term. He espouses views that coincide with the failed and discredited leaders of the old Soviet Union. He is pushing for gun restrictions and other means which may not completely break the Constitution, but deeply bends it.
The military may or may not stand against him. In light of what he's doing now, the multitude of officer "forced retirements" and outright dismissals over the last five years begins to make sense. Perhaps he is solidifying a footing in the Pentagon that will support his dictatorial take-over. The people will resist, but if the military supports "King Great Pretender" nothing less than an all-out civil war will ensue. That is when America will fall. It is doubtful the nation will survive. As I've said elsewhere on this board, there will likely be three distinct entities that arise from the remnants of this great nation. At least one of them, and perhaps two, will be equipped to have a position on the world stage, but only as secondary players.
