That is something you're reading into his words, primarily because these quotes on this thread have been lifted out of context. It is an incorrect presumption. He is speaking of the conscience of the unredeemed sinner that turns to seek answers, as everyone on at least one occasion in their lives is prone to do. Some find God when they do so.Well, if a person obeys their conscience - and their conscience is wrong Biblically - it sounds like sin is not present according to the Pope.
No, of course not, and you can't find anything in the pope said that would indicate he believes it either -- not without reading into his words something that isn't there. If one doesn't believe in Jesus for salvation, do they get a second chance after death?
Exactly. Find me anywhere in his words that Francis contradicts that. When are they repentant? They are either repentant for salvation (which I totally agree with) or they stand before the judgment throne and are repentant - which they will be - and they go to hell because they didn't believe when they had the chance.
Did he not say "God’s mercy has no limits if you go to him with a sincere and contrite heart"?? He specifically qualifies the need to have a sincere and contrite heart before God. Correct? Or not? What is a "sincere and contrite heart"? You are either saved or you are not. A sincere and contrite heart will not save you if you are not trusting in the blood of Jesus for salvation.
