That said Scott Ritter was less than honest about why we went into Iraq. It was not, in fact, simply about bio weapons. So no there was no "double standard" there.
You have to remember, Scott Ritter was Chief U.N. inspector at that time. He was sworn in to do a job and would not compromise for the bush administration, bid0n nor the ci0. Bush told us Sadam Hussain was hiding weapons of mass destruction. It was Scott Ritters job, as he was appointed by the U.N. to inspect all locations in Iraq. You are right, the real reason we went in had nothing to do with weapons of mass destruction, despite what the administration "said" at the time. There wasn't any weapons of mass destruction and Scott Ritter, as Chief UN inspector testified. In his mind, and what the public was told, it was about weapons of mass destruction.
Remember, he was belittled by bid0n in Senate committee because he said Sadam didn't have weapons of mass destruction. He refused to go along with the ci0 which wanted him to say they had them.
Scott Ritter was there. You were not. He conducted surprise inspections. Iraq got rid of its weapons of mass destruction under the UN. Nothing was denied him from inspecting. They denied him to inspect Saddam's palace's but when Scott told the Iraqis they were being set up by the Bush Administration he was allowed to inspect. I would give you that video but it was months ago. Your version was an abc, msnbc, cnn, fox news version. Scott Ritter was the Chief UN inspector sworn to uphold his job.Umm...that is not completely accurate. First, he did at one time have WMD. We did find remnants of that program. Further, since we told them we were coming long before we went it there was clear video of convoys moving something out of the country. Also, there was someone who defected from Iraq who was a scientist who said they had them at one time. Also, Saddam refused to let anyone inspect certain areas prior to us going in which created reasonable suspicion. Since, we were only under a ceae fire with Iraq at the time then the refusal to allow inspectors in all areas and the reasonable suspicion caused us to end the cease fire.
But in that video he was quite deceptive of his description of that.
