"Scientists report that functional olfactory receptors, the sensors that detect odors in the nose, are also present in human taste cells found on the tongue. The findings suggest that interactions between the senses of smell and taste, the primary components of food flavor, may begin on the tongue and not in the brain, as previously thought." :Tongue:Tongue:Tongue

Smelling with your tongue: Identification of functional olfactory receptors in human taste cells opens doors to new approaches to modify food flavor

Aside: My doctor said that I am built upside down. One's nose smells and one's feet run but my nose runs and my feet smell.:eek:

My Neurology Professor spoke of the unusual interactions of the tongue along with the sense of smell so that info is not that surprising to me but I appreciate the opportunity to steal your doctor’s line next time I have a patient with a runny nose. :BiggrinThanks!

I used to use this rather graphic illustration:

Sin is like the bathroom smells, your stink never smells as bad as someone else’s stink.

I used to be strong, others would come when needing help. :)

Now I am strong as bad breath. No one comes needing help. :(

I have the highest esteem for doctors. I'm from the small-town America of long ago.
