The Counter-Intuitive Truth About the World's Resources

“The world’s resources are finite in the same way that the number of piano keys is finite. The instrument has only 88 notes, but those can be played in an infinite variety of ways. The same applies to our planet. The Earth’s atoms may be fixed, but the possible combinations of those atoms are infinite. What matters, then, is not the physical limits of our planet, but human freedom to experiment and reimagine the use of resources that we have.”

Or we can just pollute enough to kill 90% of the planet and the surviving 10% will have plenty of resources.

I'm highly skeptical of any claims coming from a website that clearly espouses the neoliberal progressive worldview as evident by its domain name "humanprogress dot org" and many of its articles. I'm no radical but the Bible's pretty clear that this world will get worse and I don't think it is only talking about increased morality.

Clearly not espousing the "neoliberal progressive worldview". The website is a project of the Cato Institute. The Cato Institute is a libertarian think tank.

You're right, I incorrectly labeled them. But libertarianism without Christ, like, for example, that of the Libertarian Party, and as far as I can determine, this publication, basically results in the same amount of wickedness as progressive neoliberalism, with its promotion of vanity, abortion and various other evils that grip this country. They're the kind of people that are pushing the Republican Party more towards immorality, just look at the response to the "Equality Act" from President Trump.

All political parties are "without Christ" as they are part of the human governments established after Adam rebelled against God's divine government in the Garden of Eden. That is not to say that Christians cannot participate in political affairs, though some Christians make that case. I have been a member(except for about a year) of the Libertarian Party since 1980.

I find it difficult to reconcile the Libertarian Party's support of legal abortion, perversion, drugs, etc. with well-understood Biblical morality.

Government is not there to outlaw everything we Christians wish people(most of whom are not Christians) did not do. I have no desire to have the government outlaw cussing, blasphemy, fornication, etc. Human governments will never be the divine government God set up in the Garden of Eden.

Yes, government will never be the divine government God set up in the Garden, but we must strive to do our best. God will judge this nation. We must end the abortion genocide in our nation and we must clamp down on any sin that can possibly be dealt with using law enforcement; we should also rededicate our wars away from pointless economic interests and towards ending abominable practices such as abortion worldwide. Worldwide, over a billion have died from the abortion genocide, and China is perhaps the worst contributor.

We should be trying to end war making - period.

I suppose that you are correct. But what is wrong in principle with government trying to stop sin? We ban murder, rape, theft, fraud, all things I think we can agree need to have laws against to have a stable society. No one says or believes that banning it stops all of it, but its reduction alone is good.

Government is brute force being wielded by corrupt human beings. We already have WAY too much use of such force to ban this and subsidize that. A government unleashed to “beat up” your neighbor based on your beliefs one day can also be unleashed to “beat up” on you based on someone else’s beliefs the next day.

I must say you have a good point, and you've changed my mind; I've never truly considered that. Though I hate that that's the way things are in this fallen world.

Except for the two Obama elections.
