KOB-4 TV reports that David Eckert, who was stopped for a routine traffic stop, was subjected to multiple procedures including abdominal X-rays, anal exams, forced enemas, forced stool samples and a surgical colonoscopy. Moreover, they violated a warrant by taking him to a hospital in a different county.
Eckert sued the city of Deming, NM, Hidalgo County, the doctors, the medical center and a deputy district attorney who signed off on the warrants. In December, the city and the county settled. Eckert says he now says he feels like justice has been served:
The city has agreed to pay Eckert $950,000, while the county will pay him $650,000. Justice served.
