Wis. Assembly passes bill taking away union rights

By TODD RICHMOND, Associated Press Todd Richmond, Associated Press
MADISON, Wis. – Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly took the first significant action on their plan to strip collective bargaining rights from most public workers, abruptly passing the measure early Friday morning before sleep-deprived Democrats realized what was happening.

The vote ended three straight days of punishing debate in the Assembly.

:applause:

I wonder if cowardly democrat Wisconsin senators will ever return to the work they were elected to do.

Why are they called collective bargaining "rights"?

Obviously they are not "rights" but merely something that was legistatively provided in the past.

Nothing more than a part of their contract which is subject to renegotiation at the end of the contract.

If the state employees don't like the terms of the new contract they are free to quit...

And see what it's like to work in the the real world.

I have heard news reports that the Reps have done the same thing when the Dem's held the majority in the Senate. (maybe someone could help find a link)

Must be a Wisconsin thing.
Suppose the Kicking platoon of the Green Bay Packers were upset and left the State during a big home game....

I may be wrong, but I believe this is a first for Wisconsin, at least.

If the Packers ever left, only two things would remain in this state- deer hunting and beer.

How can they be world champions - did they play anyone from another county, let alone another continent?

Now before someone says I am off the OP -
This is the exact thinking of the OP

It is easy to change the subject to further your own agenda.

The title of the OP is "taking away union rights"
What constitutional union rights are being taken away. None that I know of.
When talking to a union member, suppose you brought up "Corporation/Company rights" I wonder what their reaction would be.

It appears that the union thinks companies have no rights. "Its all about me"

Has anyone from another land challenged the WORLD CHAMPION GREEN BAY PACKERS ? Has anyone from another land stepped up to attempt to remove the "WORLD CHAMPION" part from the WORLD CHAMPION GREEN BAY PACKERS title ?

I think not.
