The Two "Natures" of Christ Jesus
In a recent thread, discussion was initiated on the "Hypostatic Union." The thread drifted into a philosophical discussion, and away from specifics concerning Christ's natures.
I posted the following:
Once again we address this fundamental doctrine. Jesus is the union of two substances, Logos, God the Son, and human, the son of Mary, a descendant of Abraham and David. He is not a mixture. He has no "human spirit" only the "uniquely divine" Spirit of God the Son. And of course God the Son... -
Hypostatic Union
Hypostasis is the Greek word for "substance"
The Hypostatic Union is the doctrine dealing with the nature of Jesus.
Here is the actual statement:
Therefore, following the holy fathers, we all with one accord teach men to acknowledge one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at once complete in Godhead and complete in manhood, truly God and truly man, consisting also of a reasonable soul and body; of one substance with the Father as regards his Godhead, and at the same time of one... -
Using Study Tools
2 Timothy 2:15-18 (NASB)
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have gone astray from the truth,
Here we see we are to be "diligent" to accurately handle the "word of truth." Do we need to hold a man-made degree in Greek to study and share... -
What the sin nature is not.
We are not guilty for Adam's sin.
Deuteronomy 24:16, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
Ezekiel 18:20, The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. -
Has Fundamentalism Died?
I'm not a Fundamentalist so I won't post this on the Fundamental Baptist Forum here at the Baptist Board
but I'd like input from the few self-identified fundamentalists.
I read an article from the Detroit Baptist Seminary Journal called:
“The Self-Identity of Fundamentalism,” by Rolland D. McCune [Volume 1 1 (Spring 1996): 9].

What was/is God doing
Being, before the foundation of the world it was preordained 1 peter 1:19,20, that, from the foundation of the world rev 13:8, the Christ as of a Lamb without spot and without blemish would be slain, [suffer the death] then God must have planed to create Adam in a manner that would be subject to bringing, the death, the result of, the sin, into the world.
Yes or No?
WHY?
Before the foundation of the world, why would God need sin and death to come into the world?
What is man [singular and... -
The fundamental causes of mankind's sin nature.
Genesis 3:22, And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: . . .
Mankind acquiring God's knowledge of good and evil. That knowledge of evil causes mankind whom had only been made to be finite good to become sinful. And that knowledge of good to be self condemned.
1 Timothy 2:14, And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Genesis 3:6, And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and... -
Can Predestination and Free Will Coexist?
I'm fairly new here and have seen some recent discussion on this topic. Recently I picked up Normal Geisler's "Chosen But Free". He believed that there could be a middle ground between Calvinism and Arminianism. These are a few passages in his book.
This is not to say there are no mysteries in the Christian faith. Paul said, "Great indeed... is the mystery of godliness" (1 Tim. 3:16). But a mystery is a truth that goes beyond reason without going against reason. It is beyond our ability to... -
Limited Atonement insanity.
Where limited Atonement is actually believed and taught, by what Scripture can any lost persons have any grounds to know they were included in Christ's atonement for one's sins?
Luke 8:13, They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Matthew 7:21, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father... -
