    - We reveal some of what vendors are keeping mum, such as: You never have to pay full price, extended warranties rarely pay for themselves, and the big sites do have customer service numbers.

    Extended warranties are a real money maker for the seller. That is why they sell them [​IMG]

    I worked for a tv company years ago that made a fortune for the owners selling service contracts on televisons. They stood behind the contracts and did a great job of servicing the people and still made a fortune on them.

    This is news? I never pay list price for electronics. Should I mention that I just paid 1300 for a 43" flatpane plasma edtv at CIrcuit City?

    Again, this is news? I think a great many electronics purchasers have known this. My $.02: ask about the standard warranty. My tv has a 12mo warranty.

    Again, this is news? When I bought my tv, I asked for the service numbers, and they gave them to me.
