    I love old cookbooks! There is often homespun wisdom and amazing household tips.

    A spoonful of sugar and a drop of turpentine is a sovereign remedy for sore throats. I sure would not complain of a sore throat after that.

    Epsom salts for constipation in humans and fowl, also good for topdressing the garden beds!!!!

    Always remove the flowers from a sickroom at nighttime so that the oxygen will not be depleted.

    Recipe for colonial goose, soused pigs face, and tongue in aspic!!!!! BLAH
